While delivering his inaugural address, Professor Y.P. Verma said “It is always a pleasure to witness a production by the Indian Theatre Department. One transcends to another world while entering the department.” He went on and added, “We often overlook the importance of Theatre and Arts when we talk about our cumulative development and this seminar is an important effort to rectify this error.”

During his keynote address, Shri Chittaranjan Tripathy said “India has always been the land of advancements in science and arts for many millennia but it’s unfortunate that Indian Theatre is often overlooked while talking about Modern and Contemporary Theatre.” He further said “Realism in drama is not concept born in the western hemisphere, on the contrary it is born in the Indian Subcontinent long before the West picked it up.”

Following a vibrant interaction between the students and Mr Tripathy, Dr Navdeep Kaur delivered the concluding remarks and said “Theatre in the digital era remains as the Art-form that truly touches the Human Consciousness. It is the bearer of all the other art-forms combined and fused into one to make a discipline that transcends the many boundaries of our existence.”
