Commissioner terminates contract agreement for strengthening of existing sewerage network

Chandigarh, May 5:- Acting tough against the poor performance of contractors, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today ordered to terminate contract agreement and forfeiture of bank guarantee for the work of “Strengthening of existing sewerage network and storm water drainage network of village Khudda Lahora and village Raipur Khurd Chandigarh and debarred the agency to participate in the tenders in MCC for one year.

An order has been passed by the Commissioner today in which cancellation of the contract agreement signed with M/s Esquire Construction Company, Sector 56-A, Chandigarh for “Strengthening of existing sewerage network and storm water drainage network at village Khuda Lahora amounting to Rs. 1,16,47,847/- with a time limit of six month i.e. upto 15.03.2022 and to forfeit the performance guarantee of the agency. The agency shall not be allowed to participate in the tenders in MCC for one year.

Similarly, the Commissioner passed orders today for the cancellation of contract agreement signed with same company for the work of Strengthening of existing sewerage network and storm water drainage network of village Raipur Khurd, Chandigarh amounting to Rs. 1,12,96,821/- with a time limit of six months i.e. upto 15.03.2022 and to forfeit the performance guarantee of the agency.

The Commissioner also accorded approval to recall the tender for both the works of strengthening of existing sewerage network and storm water drainage network.

The Commissioner warned the contractors to complete their assigned agreements within stipulated contract time period failing which legal action will be initiated against them besides termination of the contract.
