Chandigarh team visits Nagpur, see 200 MLD reuse project on PPP model
Chandigarh, September 14:- A team of councillors of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation led by Smt. Sarbjit Kaur Dhillon, Mayor and accompanied by Senior Deputy Mayor, Deputy Mayor and 21 councillors today visited the India’s largest reuse project 200 MLD on PPP model at Nagpur.
The Chandigarh team met the Nagpur Municipal Corporation authorities, where they were informed that city of Nagpur generates 550+ MLD sewage and a PPP project was launched augmentation of 200 MLD STP with reuse on PPP model with Vishvaraj Environment, private firm. With the start of that project the not only the problem of sewage flowing from Nag, Pohra and Pivali rivers, which polluted water from Gosekhurd dam resolved but helped to curb pollution by increasing treatment capacity, the authorities informed.
The officials of Nagpur Corporation briefed that the project on PPP model has Zero investment (capex/opex by operator being paid through sale of treated water), ensured quality treatment and generate less pollution.
The Chandigarh team led by the Mayor appreciated the project and expressed that feasibility will be checked to upgrade the STPs at Chandigarh at same level.
