The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date of submission of online Fresh admission of all Masters, Bachelor, Diploma & Certificate programmes up to 31st March, 2021 for the January, 2021 session. Details of the IGNOU academic programmes for the January, 2021 session can be accessed from the link https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/. The prospective learners can apply for Masters/Bachelor/Diploma/Certificate programmes of the University on the official website, informed The Regional Director of IGNOU Regional centre Chandigarh Dr. A.K.Dimri. Last date of submission of ‘online’ admission form for January, session was earlier fixed for 15th March, 2021.

National Defence University (NDU) Development team visited to the Panjab university

A six member delegation of National Defence University (NDU) Development team of Nepal visited the Panjab University, Chandigarh on 17th March 2021 which was headed by Lt. Gen. Bala Nanda Sharma (Retd.), Chairman of that University.  The other members of high powered committee were Prof. (Dr.) Shambhu Ram Simkhada, Brig. Gen. Bishu Raut, Joint Secretary Ministry of Defence Krishna Prasad Gnawali. Dr. Jaskaran Singh Waraich, Chairperson, Department of Defence and National Security Studies was the Nodal officer for the conduct of visit of Nepalese delegation.

The purpose and objective of their this visit was to know the management & administration, Act & Regulation incl. the course curricula and conduct of various courses by the university.

The delegation was formally welcomed by Prof. V.R. Sinha, Dean of University Instruction who also apprised delegates about the management & administration of the University and the working of various academic departments being run under the nine faculties of the university as well as the affiliated colleges with the university.  He also assured the full support to the visiting team for the development of University in Nepal.

 The team also discussed the mandate for development of NDU in Nepal and also shared their views while showing their keen interest to visit the departments running various courses on disaster management.

 Prof. Rajesh Gill, Dean Research was also present during the interaction of the team with DUI who further highlighted the significance of various courses on Disaster Management which are being conducted in the Department of Defence and National Security Studies and Department of Geography in  Panjab University.

The team later visited the Department of Defence and National Security Studies wherein the Chairperson Dr. Jaskaran Singh Waraich gave highlights of various courses being run by the department incl. the two P.G. Diplomas in Disaster Management & Security and Homeland Security. Prof. Simrit Kahlon, who was also accompanying the team, briefed the delegation about the peculiarities of governance structure and the rich history, culture and heritage of Panjab University.

Further, the team visited the Department of Geology where Dr. Mahesh gave the presentation on his    research work on in the Himalayan Region of India and also showed the various instruments being used in their studies on seismography.

After visiting Geology department, delegation also went to the department of Geography,  one of the oldest department,  where Dr. Vishwa Bandhu Singh gave presentation about the department and the course content of Master in Disaster Management while also highlighting  the future prospects of the course.

The delegates also had a tour of the University campus which was followed by exchange of mementoes as a token of remembrance .

The NDU development team highly appreciated the academic and research standards of the University especially the Departments they visited on the day. They also expressed their keen interest in developing future academic collaborations with Panjab University.

उन्होंने बताया कि भारत निर्वाचन आयोग की हिदायतानुसार जिन मतदाताओं ने वर्ष 2021 में फार्म 6 भरकर अपना नाम मतदाता सूची में दर्ज करवाते समय जो मोबाईल नंबर दिया था, उस मोबाइल नंबर को बैबसाइट डब्ल्यूडब्ल्यूडब्ल्यू डॉट एनवीएसपी डॉट इन पर रजिस्टर करके ई-ईपीआईसी पर क्लीक करके अपना पहचान पत्र डाउनलोड कर सकते हैं। उपायुक्त ने नये मतदाताओं से अपील की है कि वे अपने मोबाईल फोन पर आयोग की उक्त वैबसाईट से ई-एपिक डाऊनलोड करें। इस माध्यम से मतदाता घर बैठे ही अपने वोटर कार्ड प्राप्त कर सकते है।

चौधरी देवीलाल विश्वविद्यालय में 20 व 21 मार्च को राष्ट्रीय सम्बो कुश्ती चैंपियनशिप 2021 प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया जाएगा, जिसमें करीब 21 राज्यों से 350 प्रतिभागी भाग लेंगे।
यह जानकारी देते हुए सम्बो फैडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया के सचिव डिप्टी राम शर्मा ने बताया कि 20 मार्च से चौधरी देवीलाल विश्वविद्यालय के मल्टीपर्पज हाल में 11वें राष्ट्रीय सम्बो चैंपियनशिप-2021 प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया जाएगा। प्रतियोगिता का समापन 21 मार्च को होगा। उन्होंने बताया कि 19 मार्च को प्रतिभागियों का वजन किया जाएगा।


प्रतियोगिता में 21 राज्यों के 350 प्रतिभागी लेंगे भाग :


सचिव डिप्टी राम शर्मा ने बताया कि सम्बो कुश्ती चैंपियनशिप प्रतियोगिता में लगभग 21 राज्यों के 350 प्रतिभागी भाग लेंगे। उन्होंने जिन राज्यों से खिलाड़ी भाग लेंगे, जिनमें आंध्रप्रदेश, छत्तीसगढ, चंडीगढ, जम्मू-कश्मीर, पंजाब, उत्तर प्रदेश, मध्य प्रदेश, दिल्ली, केरला, हरियाणा, गुजरात, तमिलनाडू आदि राज्यों के खिलाड़ी शामिल हैं।

महिला व पुरुष दोनों वर्गों में होगी प्रतियोगिता :


सचिव डिप्टी राम शर्मा ने बताया कि सम्बो कुश्ती चैंपियनशिप प्रतियोगिता महिला व पुरूष दोनों वर्गों में की जाएगी, जिसमें तीन कैटेगरी में अलग-अलग आयु वर्ग के प्रतिभागी भाग लेंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि महिला वर्ग के कैडेटस कैटेगरी में 14 से 16 वर्ष आयु वर्ग में 41 किलोग्राम, 44 किलोग्राम, 47 किलोग्राम, 50 किलोग्राम, 54 किलोग्राम, 59 किलोग्राम, 65 किलोग्राम, 72 किलोग्राम तथा 72 किलोग्राम से ऊपर, यूथ में 16 से 18 वर्ष आयु वर्ग में 47 किलोग्राम, 50 किलोग्राम, 54 किलोग्राम, 59 किलोग्राम, 65 किलोग्राम, 72 किलोग्राम, 80 किलोग्राम तथा 80 किलोग्राम से ऊपर भार वर्ग के प्रतिभागी भाग लेंगे। इसी प्रकार जूनियर एवं व्यस्क कैटेगरी में 50 किलोग्राम, 54 किलोग्राम, 59 किलोग्राम, 65 किलोग्राम, 72 किलोग्राम, 80 किलोग्राम व 80 किलोग्राम से ऊपर भार के खिलाड़ी भाग लेंगे।

टीकाकरण के साथ-साथ कोरोना से बचाव उपायों पर गंभीरता से अमल करें नागरिक : उपायुक्त प्रदीप कुमार

जिला में बढ़ते कोरोना संक्रमण के मामलों व इसके फैलाव पर पूर्ण अंकुश लगाने को लेकर उपायुक्त प्रदीप कुमार ने बुधवार को लघुसचिवालय स्थित सभागार में संबंधित विभागों के अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक की और कोरोना संक्रमण के फैलाव को रोकने के लिए अधिकारियों को आवश्यक दिशा निर्देश दिए। उन्होंने अधिकारियों से कोरोना बचाव उपायों की गंभीरता से अनुपालना सुनिश्चित करवाने के निर्देश देते हुए कहा कि मॉस्क व सोशल डिस्टेसिंग की अनिवार्य रूप से पालना करवाकर ही संक्रमण के फैलने पर रोक लगाई जा सकती है। आमजन को कोरोना वैक्सीन के टीकाकरण के साथ-साथ मॉस्क लगाने व सोशल डिस्टेसिंग की अनुपालना के लिए जागरूक किया जाए।


उपायुक्त ने कहा कि कोरोना संक्रमण के मामलों व इसके फैलाव पर रोक के लिए संबंधित विभाग के अधिकारी गंभीरता के साथ अपनी जिम्मेवारियों का निर्वहन करें। संबंधित एसडीएम यह सुनिश्चित करें कि कंटेनमेंट जोन में सभी कोरोना गाइडलानन की अनुपालना हो। कंटेनमेंट जोन में कंट्रोल रूम स्थापित करते हुए सार्वजनिक स्थल पर कोविड-19 से बचाव उपायों की पालना करवाई जाए। बैठक में एडीसी उत्तम सिंह, एसडीएम सिरसा जयवीर यादव, एसडीएम ऐलनाबाद दिलबाग सिंह, एसडीएम कालांवाली विजय सिंह, एसडीएम डबवाली अश्वनी कुमार, नगराधीश गौरव गुप्ता, उप पुलिस अधीक्षक आर्यन चौधरी, सिविल सर्जन डा. कृष्ण कुमार, डीआरओ विजेंद्र भारद्वाज, उप सिविल सर्जन डा. विरेश भूषण सहित अन्य विभागाध्यक्ष मौजूद थे।


उन्होंने पंचायत विभाग के अधिकारियों को निर्देश देते हुए कहा कि लोगों को कोरोना जांच करवाने के साथ-साथ सोशल डिस्टेसिंग व मॉस्क लगाने के लिए जागरूक किया जाए, ताकि संक्रमण का फैलाव न हो। इसी प्रकार नगर परिषद कंटेनमेंट जोन में सेनेटाइज करने का काम करें। आयुष विभाग कंटेनमेंट जोन में लोगों को रोग प्रतिरोधक क्षमता बढाने की औषधियों का वितरण करें। उन्होंने अन्य संबंधित विभागों के अधिकारियों को आमजन को वैक्सीन टीकाकरण, मॉस्क व सोशल डिस्टैसिंग आदि बचाव उपायों को लेकर जागरूक व प्रेरित करने के दिशा-निर्देश दिए।


कोरोना वैक्सीन पूरी तरह सुरक्षित, आमजन टीकाकरण के लिए आएं आगे :


उपायुक्त प्रदीप कुमार ने कहा कि जिला में कोरोना टीकाकरण का कार्य लगातार जारी है, इस कार्य में और अधिक तेजी के उद्देश्य से सोमवार व मंगलवार को मैगा टीकाकरण अभियान चलाया जाएगा, ताकि अधिक से अधिक लोगों का टीकाकरण हो सके। उन्होंने बताया कि हालांकी जिला में कोरोना से रिकवरी रेट अन्य जिलों के मुकाबले बेहतर है लेकिन फिर भी कोरोना को लेकर सावधानी व कोविड की हिदायतों की पालना के प्रति गंभीरता जरूरी है। स्वास्थ्य विभाग द्वारा जिला में 35 हजार 263 लोगों को कोरोना की प्रथम व 4027 लोगों को कोरोना की दूसरी डोज दी जा चुकी है।


उन्होंने बताया कि अबतक दो लाख 54 हजार 681 व्यक्तियों के कोविड सैंपल लिए जा चुके हैं तथा इस समय कुल 44 व्यक्ति कोरोना पॉजिटीव हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि कोरोना वैक्सीन पूरी तरह से सुरक्षित है और किसी तरह का कोई साइडिफेक्ट नहीं है, इसलिए 45 से 60 आयुवर्ग तथा 60 से अधिक आयुवर्ग के लोग टीकाकरण के लिए आगे आएं और दूसरों को भी टीकाकरण के लिए प्रेरित करें।

विभागाध्यक्ष अधिकारियों व कर्मचारियों का टीकाकरण करवाना करें सुनिश्चित :


उपायुक्त ने सभी विभागाध्यक्षों को निर्देश दिए कि अधिकारियों व कर्मचारियों का टीकाकरण करवाना सुनिश्चित करें, इसके अलावा समय-समय पर कार्यालयों को सैनिटाइज भी जरूर करवाएं। कोरोना संक्रमण के फैलाव को रोकने व हिदायतों की गंभीरता से पालना के लिए संबंधित विभाग आपसी तालमेल से कार्य करें और प्रचार-प्रसार के कार्य में तेजी लाते हुए आमजन को जागरूक करें। उपायुक्त ने आमजन का आह्वान किया कि वे कोरोना संक्रमण को फैलने से रोकने में प्रशासन का सहयोग करें और जो भी हिदायत व गाइडलाइन प्रशासन की ओर से जारी की जाती हैं, उनका ईमानदारी से पालन करें।

            अतिरिक्त उपायुक्त उत्तम सिंह ने कहा कि मोबाइल टावर लगाने की स्वीकृति देने से पहले अधिकारी यह सुनिश्चित करें कि टावर आबादी वाले क्षेत्र से थोड़ी दूरी पर हो। उन्होंने कहा कि जिला स्तरीय क्लीयरेंस कमेटी के माध्यम से एक एकड़ तक के सीएलयू और दस करोड़ लागत तक के प्रोजेक्ट को अनुमति प्रदान करती है। बैठक में 31 आवेदनों पर विचार विमर्श किया गया, ये आवेदन दक्षिण हरियाणा बिजली वितरण निगम, श्रम विभाग, पीडब्ल्यूडी विभाग, पंचायत विभाग व नगर परिषद / पालिकाओं से संबंधित थे। इनमें से अधिकतर का निपटान मौके पर ही किया गया। उन्होंने संबंधित अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिए कि सभी लंबित केसों को पॉलिसी प्रावधान के अंतर्गत तुरंत प्रभाव निपटान करें तथा इनकी प्रगति रिर्पोट पोर्टल पर अपटेड करना सुनिश्चित किया जाए। इसके लिए आवेदनों के निपटान के लिए अपनी स्पष्ट रिपोर्ट अंकित करें ताकि उनके निपटान में किसी प्रकार का विलंब न हो सके।

            जिला उद्योग केंद्र के उप निदेशक ज्ञान चंद लाग्यांण ने बताया कि कि इनवेस्ट हरियाणा पोर्टल के माध्यम से विभिन्न 26 विभागों की 118 प्रकार की सेवाएं प्रदान की जा रही है, जिसमें आवेदक वबसाइट इनवेस्ट हरियाणा डॉट इन पर लॉगइन करके अपना आवेदन कर सकता है। उन्होंने बताया कि उद्यमकर्ताओं के लिए हरियाणा सरकार द्वारा हरियाणा उद्यम एवं रोजगार पॉलिसी-2020 का नोटिफिकेशन जारी हो चुका है जो कि एक जनवरी, 2021 से शुरू हो रही है। उन्होंने बताया कि हरियाणा एंटरप्राइज प्रमोशन एक्ट के प्रावधान के अनुसार उद्यमियों को सभी प्रकार के सुविधाएं एक ही छत्त के नीचे प्रदान करने के उदेश्य से हरियाणा एंटरप्राइज प्रमोशन सैंटर का गठन किया गया है, जहां पर संबंधित विभाग द्वारा अपनी सेवाएं प्रदान की जा रही है और उद्यमियों को उनके प्रस्तावित प्रोजेक्ट बारे सभी प्रकार की क्लीयरेंस 30 दिन में दिए जाने का प्रावधान है।

Prof. Ravi Inder Singh gave an overview of how startups have the power to influence the economy of a nation and cited examples of successful entrepreneurs like jeff bezos and bill gates. He announced the opening of a startup cell in the UBSL PURC campus.

Vice Chancellor and Chief Guest Prof. Raj Kumar extended his presidential address to advocate students on how each person has an entrepreneur hidden in them to lad their paths. His motivated the students to start startups as a part of their career.

The key speaker of the Ms. Bahuguna who is an Edupreneur is well versed with significant aspects of the corporate world of startups. She walked through key messages of webinar to encourage students to take smart decisions about building the startups and administered to their fears of failure in life. She beautifully described her own life story of how her path was full of stumble stones at all corners, yet she is a successful edupreneur today as she never gave up on her ambitions of success. She did what she loved the most. Ms. Akshita Bahuguna presented short videos of real life stories of entrepreneurs such as the owner of KENT RO Mukesh Gupta, the CEO and co-founder of the Whatsapp Jan Koum and Brian Acton. Also she briefed out the story of Karsanbhai Patel, the man behind “Washing powder Nirma”.

She believes that for students the right time to start building startups is right off!

After her talk she took up questions from the enthusiastic audience and appreciated their efforts.

Towards the end, vote a thanks was proposed by Dr. Ashish Saihjpal, Coordinator University Business School, Ludhiana. He also acknowledged madam Akshita Bahuguna for her valuable and considerable in Genuity and for taking time to share here very useful resources.

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Dean International Students organised an International Interaction on the theme, ” Quest for International Peace and Unity.”

 Prof.Renu Thakur, Coordinator of ICSVS welcomed the guests and introduced the distinguished speakers from Israel. 

Prof Anju Suri,  Dean International Students highlighted the theme of the event. She said that for peace in a democratic nation, the interests of both majority and the minority groups of people need to be equally taken care of. In Indian Constitution, the Preamble, the fundamental rights, the directive principles, fundamental duties protect the interests of both the groups thus contributing to international peace and unity. 

The Dean University Instruction and officiating Vice Chancellor,Panjab University,Prof.V.R .Sinha was the chief guest on the occasion . He said that fostering mutual understanding between people from every culture, faith and background is important for international peace and unity. 

Prof.Michal Bar Asher Siegal from Goldstein Goren D inepartment of Jewish thought, Ben Gurin University of Negev, Israel spoke on “The study of Religious Minorities living side by side: The case of Jews and Christians in Late Antiquity Persian Empire.” She informed about the importance of Christianity in the Persian empire, during the time of the composition and redaction of the rabbinic Babylonian Talmud, fostered a literary connection between the two religious populations. The shared literary elements in the literature of these two elite religious communities shed new light on the surprisingly inclusive nature of the Talmudic corpora and on the non-polemical nature of elite Jewish-Christian literary relations in late antique Persia. Her lecture is important to study the complex relationship between the Jews and Christians coexisting and sharing their traditions for peaceful existence.

The discourse by Ms Shirley Siegal,  an artist from Israel, threw light on how artists convey crisis through their art works. For hundreds of years artists have painted scenes of everyday life during times of Pandemic. With several examples of such artworks she highlighted that art reflects societal issues and concerns. The rare examples from the Spanish flu of 1918 -1920 are very different from the Covid-19 colourful and attention-grabbing street art. These artworks inform us not only of artistic traditions but also, educate us on other societal issues thus are invaluable source of history. 

The two discourses were followed by an interactive session which was moderated by a research scholar from the Department of History, Mr.Ashish Rawat. Dr.Priyatosh Sharma, Chairperson Department of History, proposed the vote of thanks.
