Chandigarh organized “One day training workshop on AutoCEPH, a web based Cephalometric Analysis and 3-D Metal Printing for Dental Applications” in collaboration with CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh and CDER-AIIMS, New Delhi in the Dental Institute premises here today.

19th July 2019, Chandigarh :

 Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized “One day training workshop on AutoCEPH, a web based Cephalometric Analysis and 3-D Metal Printing for Dental Applications” in collaboration with CSIR-CSIO,Chandigarh and CDER-AIIMS, New Delhi in the Dental Institute premises here today.

The session included lectures and demonstrations by eminent speakers Dr. H.K. Sardana, Mr. Virendra Kumar, Dr. Viren Sardana, Dr. Rajeev,Mr. Suman Tewary, Mr. Srikant Vasamsetti and Mr. Vijay Kumar Meena on utilization of new
software AutoCEPH, 3D Metal printing technology and its utilization in dental practice.  The course was attended by 60 participants that included Postgraduate students and faculty members of the Institute. The students and staff appreciated the academic activity which is very vast and less talked about.   

Interactive discussion with possibilities of collaboration of medical and engineering was also done.

PU VC meets President of India

19th July 2019, Chandigarh :

Prof Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University,Chandigarh met The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind in NewDelhi, here today.

            The VC apprised him of various academic and developmental activities being undertaken by PU. Other important issues related to PU were also discussed. The President while appreciating the same, assured of all possible help to PU.

पंचकूला, 19 जुलाई-

उपायुक्त मुकेश कुमार आहुजा ने जिला के सभी अधिकारियों को बिना अनुमति के मुख्यालय न छोड़ने के आदेश दिये है।

जारी आदेशों में उन्होंने कहा कि मानसून के समय में नदी नालों में काफी मात्रा में पानी का बहाव बढ़ गया है, जिसके कारण बाढ़ की स्थिति पर हर समय नजर रखे जाने की आवश्यकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि किसी भी समय किसी भी अधिकारी की सेवाओं की आवश्यकता पड़ सकती है और कोई भी अधिकारी बिना पूर्व अनुमति के मुख्यालय नहीं छोड़े और अपना मोबाईल आॅन रखे।

कालका की विधायक श्रीमती लतिका शर्मा ने आज प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों के साथ कालका में बारिश के कारण प्रभावित क्षेत्रों का दौरा किया।

कालका, 19 जुलाई-

कालका की विधायक श्रीमती लतिका शर्मा ने आज प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों के साथ कालका में बारिश के कारण प्रभावित क्षेत्रों का दौरा किया। उन्होंने खेड़ा सीताराम और टिब्बी मौहल्ला में रहने वाले लोगों से बातचीत की और अधिकारियों को उनकी समस्या के समाधान और मकानों की सुरक्षा के लिये आवश्यक प्रबंध करने के निर्देश दिये। 

उन्होंने अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिये कि पानी के बहाव के कारण, जिस क्षेत्र के मकान प्रभावित हो सकते है, उनके नजदीक अडंगा (पत्थरों की आड़) इत्यादि की व्यवस्था करें। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि ऐसी समस्या के स्थाई समाधान के लिये यदि कोई कार्य योजना संभव है तो उसका प्रस्ताव भी तैयार करें। उन्होंने अधिकारियों को यह निर्देश दिये कि विधानसभा क्षेत्र में अन्य ऐसे स्थान जहां पानी का तेज बहाव नुकसान कर सकता है, उन पर भी नजर रखें। उन्होंने स्थानीय लोगों से भी अनुरोध किया कि ऐसी किसी भी स्थिति में वे स्थानीय प्रशासन से संपर्क करें और प्रशासन द्वारा हर संभव हल निकाला जायेगा।

विधायक के साथ तहसीलदार राजेश पूनिया, नायब तहसीलदार रमेश्वर, सिंचाई विभाग के एसडीओ दीपक, नगर निगम के कनिष्ठ अभियंता सुभाष व अन्य संबंधित अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।

Massive Tree Plantation Drive at Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (Dr.SSBUICET), P.U

Chandigarh:

 Massive Tree Plantation Drive at Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (Dr.SSBUICET), P.U. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has launched a campaign to plant the trees. Accordingly a massive Tree Plantation Drive for Environmental Awareness amongst students was held at Dr.SSB University 
institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology, Panjab University in collaboration with Horticulture Unit of Panjab University. 

 The Tree Plantation Drive was inaugurated by Prof.Shankarji Jha, Dean University Instruction and officiating Vice Chancellor. 

 Prof. Sanchita Chauhan, Chairperson & Dean Faculty of Engg. & Technology informed that PU Fellow Dr. Parveen Goyal, was the driving force behind this drive. She further informed that large number of teaching, research scholars, students, and non-teaching staff of the Dr.SSBUICET along with some staff members of horticulture department under the able guidance of Sh. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer, Horticulture participated in the drive, informed. 
       

Around 50 saplings of various plants like Chandni, Kaner, Neem, Kachnor and Tecoma trees were planted around the institute.

Orientation Programme at UIAMS, PU concluded

Chandigarh:

The concluding day of the five day induction programme from 15th -19th July, 2019 at University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University started with Dr. Monika Aggarwal welcoming the students, staff and faculty members for the valedictory session.  This was followed by one hour yoga session conducted by yoga instructor Shri Ashu Pratap. He demonstrated some simple yoga asanas that can be practiced daily. He stated benefits of each of the asana if practiced in the right way. 

 The yoga session was followed by the Director, Prof. Upasna Joshi’s address. She presented a report on the activities undertaken during the five day orientation programme at UIAMS which she declared to be a great success on the basis of the feedback she received from all the participants. She shared that the five day orientation programme has been a fine blend of academic and fun activities for the students where the students got to interact with speakers from the corporate, academia and administration.

Prof. Nandita Singh, Dean International Students, PU shared the benefits of yoga and meditation. She shared nuances about the right way of meditating to live and lead a peaceful life with the students and other participants. 

 Sister Neera from the Heartfullness Institute also interacted with the participants and guided the students on how to stay calm and face the challenges faced by students in the current times of constant mental distractions from technology and other aspects of the environment. She also said that we need to make constant effort to do away with these distractions and stay peaceful and heartful. 

 This was followed by a student tour of the incumbent batch of 2019-2021 to AC Joshi Library, Fine Arts Museum and P.N. Mehra Botanical Garden, Panjab University.

The IAS Centre, Punjab University conducted entrance test for the new batch of students preparing for IAS

Chandigarh:

 The IAS Centre, Punjab University conducted entrance test for the new batch of students preparing for IAS, here today. A good strength of students were present for the test. The result of the test will be displayed on  23rd July, at 12 noon on the notice board at the IAS Centre, PU. About 70 students will be selected for this batch. Classes for the same will commence from 5th Aug. 2019. Prof. Parmjit  Kaur, Director, IAS Centre  and Dr. Shruti Bedi, Coordinator were well satisfied with the conduct and culmination of the test.

Counselling for admission to M.Sc.(Hons.)

The counselling for admission to M.Sc.(Hons.) 1st Semester Biophysics(Based on P.U.CET (PG) for the session 2019-2020 will be held on Wednesday, 24th July,2019  at 11.00 a.m. in the committee room of the Department of Biophysics, BMS Block-II, South Campus, Sector-25, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The applicants are required to bring all the original documents, a hard copy of the online Admission Form along with the testimonials at the time of Counselling.
