*Chandigarh, January 12:-* Aiming in creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable city, On National Youth Day, the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh emphasized the pivotal role of youth in building a sustainable and garbage-free city. The MC Chandigarh organized a special visit to provide college students with hands-on experience, enabling them to understand the functions of solid waste management beyond the classroom.

Municipal Commissioner, Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS said that MC Chandigarh believes engaging the youth in such experiential learning opportunities will foster a sense of ownership and responsibility towards waste management. By providing them with practical exposure, the MC aims to inspire the younger generation to actively participate in building a greener and more sustainable future.

Under the expert guidance of MC officials, a group of 50 college students participated in a field visit to various waste management facilities. This visit aimed to enhance their practical knowledge and create awareness about sustainable waste management practices. The students gained insights into landfilling operations and witnessed the ongoing dumpsite remediation process at the Daddumajra landfill site.

Furthermore, the students learned about mechanical segregation techniques for recyclable recovery during their visit to the Pink Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and Garbage Transfer Station. They also observed the transition from Primary Door-to-Door Collection and Transportation (C&T) to Secondary C&T, including the compaction of fluffy waste in compacted capsules for cost-saving purposes.

To broaden their understanding of waste management, the students visited the Solid Waste Processing Plant. Here, they learned about the processing of both wet and dry waste to produce compost and Refused Derived Fuel (RDF), respectively. This hands-on experience provided the students with valuable insights into the waste management process and the importance of resource recovery.

In addition, the students visited the Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste management plant located in Industrial Area Phase 1. They received education on the process of converting C&D waste into construction raw materials such as fine sand, coarse aggregates, bricks, and Paver Blocks. This visit aimed to instill a sense of responsibility among the youth towards the proper disposal and recycling of construction waste.

*Chandigarh, January 12:-* The Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh celebrated Lohri with its Nigam Parivaar in their respective offices besides ceremonial bonfire programme at MCC head office, sector 17.

Separate functions were organised to mark Lohri and wish the employees and their families, Door to Door waste collectors and safaikarmachariscelebratedLohri at CommunityCentreSector43, the Engeering wing celebrated Lohri by organizing different programmes besides a colorful function at Fire Station, Sector 17 with all the firemen and their families.

A cultural programme was also organised at MCC head Office at sector 17 in which all the employees of head Office celebrated Lohri festival.

City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta extended warm wishes to the officers and employees of the MCC followed by ceremonial bonfire and puja etc.

Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh said that the celebrations were aimed at boosting the moral and confidence of all employees of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

Sweets were also distributed among the employees and their families. On this occasion the best employees who have been upright, sincere, dedicated and have excelled in the performance of duty assigned to them, were also honoured.

अंबेडकर भवन कालका में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में कालका की पूर्व विधायिका व राष्ट्रीय महिला मोर्चा की कोषाध्यक्ष श्रीमती लतिका शर्मा ने मुख्यातिथि के रूप में शिरकत की।

  कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करते हुए श्रीमती लतिका शर्मा ने कहा कि स्वामी विवेकानंद जी सभी के लिए प्रेरणा स्त्रोत है। उन्होंने  सभी को स्वामी विवेकानंद जी की जयंती की बहुत बहुत बधाई दी। उन्होंने कहा कि विकसित भारत यात्रा के दौरान विभिन्न विभागों द्वारा स्टाल लगाकर लाभार्थियों को परिवार पहचान पत्र, बीपीएल कार्ड, आधार कार्ड, उज्जवला योजना, स्वरोजगार, प्रधानमंत्री मातृ वंदन योजना के तहत लाभ प्रदान किए जा रहे है।
 उन्होने कहा कि आर्थिक  रूप  से  कमजोर  वर्ग  के  विद्यार्थियों  को  उच्चतर शिक्षा  में  10 प्रतिशत आरक्षण दिया गया है। गरीब परिवारों के विद्यार्थियों के लिए 12वीं कक्षा तक मुफ्त पुस्तकें, वर्दी व लेखन सामग्री देने का प्रावधान किया गया है।
‘डाॅ. अम्बेडकर  मेधावी  छात्र  संशोधित  योजना‘  में  सरकार द्वारा अनुसुचित  जाति  व पिछड़ा वर्ग के विद्यार्थियों को 12,000 रुपये तक वार्षिक छात्रवृत्ति दी जा रही  है। पोस्ट मैट्रिक  छात्रवृत्ति  योजना  में  13,500  रुपये  तक  वार्षिक छात्रवृत्ति दी जा रही है।

इस अवसर पर श्रीमती लतिका शर्मा ने पीएम वंदन योजना, वृद्वावस्था सम्मान भत्ता, स्वस्थ बालक स्पर्धा और अन्य कल्याणकारी योजनाओं के लाभाथियो को योजनाओं के सर्टिफिकेट प्रदान किए।

इसके उपरांत विकसित भारत संकल्प यात्रा जनसंवाद एलईडी वैन के माध्यम से गाँववसियों को प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी का रिकॉर्डेड भाषण दिखाया और सुनाया गया।

इससे पूर्व उन्होने विभागों द्वारा लगाए गए स्टाल का अवलोकन किया और लोगों को दी जा रही सुविधाओं की जानकारी ली। उन्होंने विभिन्न योजनाओं के लाभार्थियों को प्रमाण पत्र भी वितरित किए और उपस्थित जनों को विकसित भारत की शपथ भी दिलवाई।

वाकाथोन सैक्टर 5 से शुरू होकर, पल्लवी होटल, कैक्टस गार्डन, बस स्टैंड, तवा चौक, अनुपम स्वीटस, सैक्टर 11-14 चौक, सैक्टर 10-15 चौक, सैक्टर 9-16 अग्रसेन चौक से होती हुई सैक्टर 5 स्थित पीएनबी के सामने ग्राउंड में संपन हुई। श्री ज्ञानचंद गुप्ता ने खुली जीप में सवार होकर वाकाथोन में भाग ले रहे युवाओं में भारत माता की जय और वंदे मातरम के नारों से नए जोश का संचार किया।

इस अवसर पर आयोजित कार्यकम में श्री गुप्ता ने स्वामी विवेकानंद के चित्र पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित कर नमन किया। युवाओं को संबोधित करते हुए श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि स्वामी विवेकानंद युवाओं के प्ररेणा स्त्रोत है। उनके द्वारा हजारों वर्ष पूर्व दिया गया ‘‘संदेश उठो, जागों और तब तक नही रूको‘‘ जब तक लक्ष्य न प्राप्त हो जाए आज भी उतना ही प्रासंगिक है। स्वामी विवेकानंद जी ने कहा था नालेज इज पावर यानि शिक्षा मनुष्य की ताकत है। उन्होने युवाओं से आहवाहन किया कि वे स्वामी जी द्वारा दिए गए संदेश को अपने जीवन में अपनाए और देश की एकता और अंखडता को बनाए रखने में अपना योगदान दे। 

विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ने कहा कि लगभग दो वर्ष पूर्व उन्होने पंचकूला को स्वच्छ, सुदर और हरा भरा बनाने के लिए सात सरोकार दिए थे। इन सरोकारों को घर घर तक पहुचाने और इसमें प्रत्येक पंचकूलावासी की भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करने के लिए इस वाकाथोन का आयोजन किया गया। उन्होने कहा कि कोई भी कार्यक्रम जनभागाीदारी के बिना सफल नही हो सकता। पंचकूला को ड्रग, प्रदूषण, प्लास्टिक, स्ट्रे कैटल, स्ट्रे डाॅग, अतिक्रमण और स्लम से मुक्त करने के लिए प्रशासनिक स्तर पर कार्य करने के साथ साथ लोगों की भागीदारी भी आवश्यक है। 

 उन्होने कहा कि पंचकूला को नशा मुक्त बनाना उनकी सबसे बडी प्राथमिकता है। मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल ने हरियाणा को और प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरंेद्र मोदी ने देश को नशा मुक्त करेन का संकल्प लिया है। श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि पंचकूला को नशा मुक्त करने में युवा अहम योगदान दे सकते हैं। जिला पुलिस द्वारा टोल फ्री हेल्पलाईल नंबर शुरू किया गया है जिस पर नशा करने वाले और नशा बेचने वाले की जानकारी दी जा सकती है। उन्होन युवाओं से आहवाहन किया कि वे नशे जैसी बुराई से दूर रहे और औरों को भी इससे दूर रहने के लिए प्रेरित करें। 

श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि पंचकूला को प्लास्टिक मुक्त बनाने के लिए प्रशासन के साथ साथ कई एनजीओ भी आगे आए है जिनके द्वारा लोगों को कपडे या जूट से बने थैले उपलब्ध करवाए जा रहे है। उन्होने कहा कि प्लास्टिक मानव जीवन के लिए हानिकारक है और इसका प्रयोग करने वालों के विरूद्व कडी कारवाई की जा रही है। उन्होने आहवाहन किया कि पंचकूला को प्रदूषण मुक्त करने के लिए प्रत्येक पंचकूलावासी अपने घर के बाहर कम से कम एक पौधा अवश्य लगाए। ट्रेफिक लाईट प्वाईटस पर अपनी गाडी एक मिनट के लिए बंद करके भी हम प्पर्यावरण संरक्षण में अपना योगदान दे सकते है। 

विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ने कहा कि शहर को अतिक्रमण मुक्त बनाने के लिए नगर निगम और हरियाणा शहरी विकास प्राधिकरण द्वारा संमय समय पर अभियान चलाकर अवैध अतिक्रमण को हटाया जाता है। रेहडी-फडी वाले सम्मानपूवर्क अपनी रोजी-रोटी कमा सके, इसके लिए नगर निगम द्वारा लगभग सभी सैक्टरों में वेंडिग जोन स्थापित किए गए है। उन्होने कहा कि वह पंचकूला को स्लम फ्री बनाना चाहते है। उनका प्रयास है कि पंचकूला में कोई भी व्यक्ति बगैर छत के न हो। इसके लिए हरियाणा शहरी विकास प्राधिकरण द्वारा पंचकूला में राजीव कालोनी, इंदिरा कालोनी और खडग मंगोली में रह रहे लोगों को एक एक मरला प्लाट देने की योजना बनाई जा रही है। सर्वे का कार्य पूरा हो चुका है। 

इस अवसर पर श्री गुप्ता ने नगर निगम द्वारा प्लास्टिक फ्री पंचकूला पर तैयार करवाए गए गाने को लांच किया। यह गाना श्री मीत रंगरेज द्वारा गाया गया है। स्कूली बच्चों द्वारा हरियाणवी डांस, पंजाबी गिद्दा , वुसु, ताईक्वाडों और सात सरोकारों पर बेहतरीन प्रस्तुति दी गई जिसे खूब सराहा गया।

प्राचार्या प्रोमिला मलिक ने विद्यार्थियों को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि रामायण केवल एक धार्मिक ग्रंथ ही नहीं है बल्कि यह मानव को जीवन की सीख देता है। व्यक्ति को हर परिस्थिति में संयम बरतना चाहिए। जो व्यक्ति सुख एवं दुख में संयम और धैर्य बनाए रखता है वह विषम परिस्थितियों से लड़कर अपने लक्ष्य को प्राप्त कर सकता है। रामायण हमें बुराई पर अच्छाई की जीत का संदेश देती है। हमें मर्यादा एवं अनुशासन वाला जीवन जीना चाहिए। हमारे अच्छी कर्म उच्च स्तर तक पहुंचाने का साधन है और इसी तरह बुरे कर्म विनाश की ओर ले जाते हैं। प्रतियोगिता का परिणाम इस प्रकार है स्लोगन लेखन में प्रथम स्थान बी.ए. प्रथम वर्ष की शबाना ने प्राप्त किया। द्वितीय स्थान पर बीए प्रथम वर्ष की प्रीति जिंटा स्वैन रही। तृतीय स्थान बीए तृतीय वर्ष की काजल ने प्राप्त किया। पोस्टर मेकिंग प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम स्थान पर बीए द्वितीय वर्ष की शिवानी राणा और बीए प्रथम वर्ष की अंजलि रही। द्वितीय स्थान पर बी.ए. प्रथम वर्ष की सपना और पिंकी रही। तृतीय स्थान बी.ए. तृतीय वर्ष की कृतिका कौर और शिवानी ने प्राप्त किया। बीए द्वितीय वर्ष की दीक्षा और बीकॉम द्वितीय वर्ष के छात्र रितेश को सांत्वना पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया। प्रस्तुत प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन प्रोफेसर डॉ बिंदु और प्रोफेसर सुनीता चैहान के मार्गदर्शन और दिशा निर्देशन में किया गया।

पंचकूला, 11 जनवरी- जिला में चल रही विकसित भारत संकल्प यात्रा कल 12 जनवरी को कालका में प्रवेश करेगी। 24 जनवरी तक यह यात्रा कालका के सभी वार्डों को कवर करेगी। 

इस संबंध में जानकारी देते हुए श्री सुशील सारवान ने बताया कि विकसित भारत संकल्प यात्रा का उदेश्य केंद्र और राज्य सरकार की जनकल्याणकारी नीतियों को जन-जन तक पहंुचाना है। 

उन्होने बताया कि कल 12 जनवरी को विकसित भारत संकल्प यात्रा के तहत प्रातः डाक्टर भीमराव अंबेडकर भवन और सांय खटिक मोहल्ला में विभिन्न विभागों द्वारा स्टाल लगाकर लाभार्थियों को सरकारी योजनाओं के आ रही समस्याओं का निवारण करने के साथ साथ पात्र लाभार्थियों को मौके पर ही योजनाओं का लाभ प्रदान किया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि कल डाक्टर भीमराव अंबेडकर भवन में दोपहर 12:15 बजे प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी का लाइव संबोधन भी प्रसारित किया जाएगा।

पंचकूला, 11 जनवरी हरियाणा विधानसभा अध्यक्ष श्री ज्ञानचंद गुप्ता ने आज चंडीमाता मंदिर पहुंचकर माथा टेका व पूजा अर्चना कर चंडी माता का आशीर्वाद लिया। इसके उपरांत श्री गुप्ता कल देर रात लगभग 1 बजे मंदिर में हुई चोरी के बारे में विस्तार से पुलिस व श्री माता मनसा देवी श्राइन बोर्ड के सचिव श्री पृथ्वीराज से विस्तार से जानकारी ली। इसके बाद श्री गुप्ता ने मंदिर का दौरा किया और सीसीटीवी फुटेज के माध्यम से चोरी की घटना को बारिकी से देखा।

हरियाणा विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ने पुलिस उपायुक्त सुमेर प्रताप सिंह को दोषियों की पहचान कर उनके खिलाफ सख्त कारवाई करने व मंिदर में प्रतिदिन पैट्रोलिंग बढाने व मानिटरिंग करने के निर्देश दिए।

श्री माता मनसा देवी श्राइन बोर्ड के सचिव श्री पृथ्वीराज ने बताया कि चोर मंदिर स्थित चार गल्लों से लगभग 5 लाख रुपए कैश, माता का सोने का छतर, मंगलसूत्र, हार, माता की सोने की अंाख, माता की प्रतिमा में स्थाई रूप से पहनाए हुए लगभग 16 तोले स्वर्ण आभूषण, चांदी की जोत, लोटा, गिलास, मुकुट, ढक्कन, लगभग ढाई किलो चांदी के आभूषण चुराकर ले गए। 

हरियाणा विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ने श्री माता मनसा देवी श्राइन बोर्ड के सीईओ को तीनों मंदिरों की सुरक्षा और बढाने के निर्देश दिए ताकि इस तरह की चोरी की घटना दोबारा न हो सके। उन्होने कहा कि महामायी के मंदिर में चोरी की घटना एक महापाप है। चोरी की घटना को अंजाम देने वालों को किसी भी सूरत में बख्शा नही जाएगा। 

पुलिस उपायुक्त ने हरियाणा विधानसभा अध्यक्ष को चोरी की वारदात को अंजाम देने वाले अपराधियों को सीसीटीवी की फुटेज के आधार पर क्राईम की 3 टीम व कुल 4 टीमें बनाकर दोषियों को जल्दी ही पकडने का आश्वासन दिया।  

इस अवसर पर नगराधीश राजेश पुनिया, नगर निगम के एमसी नरेंद्र लुबाना, माता मनसा देवी मंदिर की सचिव शारदा प्रजापति, एसीपी आर्यन चैधरी व चंडी मंदिर एसएसओ ललित शर्मा तथा अन्य गणमान्य व्यक्ति उपस्थित थे।

*Chandigarh, January 10:-* Playing a pivotal role in effectively managing the substantial amount of horticulture waste generated within the city, the Chandigarh’s state-of-the-art Horticulture Waste Management Plant completed one year of successful operations today.

Inaugurated by Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, Governor, Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh on 10th January, 2023, this plant represents a significant step towards Chandigarh’s mission to become a garbage-free city. The concerted efforts of the Municipal Corporation have propelled Chandigarh from the 66th rank in the Swachhata Sarvekshan of 2020 to the 12th rank in 2021 among cities with a population of over one lakh. This year, Chandigarh has been selected as a National Awardee at the Swacch Survekshan 2023 awards, which will be held on January 11th at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi. Her Excellency, the President of India, will present the award to the city.

With over 1.65 lakh trees, more than 1900 parks and gardens, Chandigarh has always been committed to preserving its natural beauty. To efficiently handle the increasing volume of horticulture waste, the Municipal Corporation took the initiative to establish an advanced Horticulture Waste Management Plant with a daily capacity of 30 TPD. This plant has been designed to convert horticulture waste into high-calorific-value briquettes, which are subsequently sold as industrial fuel, contributing to the circular economy of Horticulture Waste Management.

City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta expressed his satisfaction, stating that the successful completion of one year of the Horticulture Waste Processing Plant is a remarkable achievement for Chandigarh. It showcases our commitment to sustainable waste management practices and reinforces the vision of a garbage-free city.

Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh congratulated the entire staff and manpower of the Horticulture processing plant, emphasizing the Horticulture Waste Processing Plant has revolutionized the way MCC manages horticulture waste. By converting it into valuable briquettes, the MCC not only contribute to the circular economy but also reduce our reliance on traditional fuelwood and landfill disposal. She said that the MCC has proud of this accomplishment and look forward to achieving ISO certification for the plant in the coming year.

She further said that the MCC remains steadfast in its commitment to achieving 100 percent waste processing within the city. With a daily processing capacity of 30-40 tons, the horticulture waste processing plant converts raw horticulture waste into valuable briquettes.

She added that the successful completion of one year of the Horticulture Waste Processing Plant in Chandigarh is a testament to the MCC’s unwavering dedication to sustainable waste management practices. By transforming horticulture waste into a valuable resource, Chandigarh aims to set an exemplary standard for other cities in India and beyond. Furthermore, MC Chandigarh is actively working towards achieving ISO certification for the plant by the coming year.

In the past year, MC Chandigarh has left no opportunity to make the citizens aware of Horticulture Waste processing by arranging student visits to the plant. Guided by MC experts, these bright minds have learned innovative techniques to create a cleaner, greener environment and have set up stalls at Annual Cultural Events like the Rose Festival, Teej, and Chrysanthemum Show. The citizens witnessed the remarkable transformation of horticulture waste into high-calorific-value briquettes, which are then sold as fuel. Embracing waste management, this initiative not only reduces environmental impact but also provides an eco-friendly alternative for fuel consumption.
