Adviser inaugurates 49th Rose Festival with symbolic start
Chandigarh, February 26:- Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh today inaugurated the 49th Rose Festival with symbolic start here at Rose Garden, Sector 16, Chandigarh.
Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Siddhu, Senior Deputy Mayor, councilors and senior officers of MCC were present during the simple inauguration function.
This year the Rose Festival has been dedicated to the Corona Warriors and the MCC decided not to organize any kind of competitions during the three day festival. The horticulture wing of MCC decorated the main gate with Roses and other topiaries inside the garden including boat, butterfly, elephant and dragon etc. besides setting up a Swachh Survekshan counter with Swachh Chandigarh selfie point.
The Mayor and Commissioner will give away appreciation awards and certificates on 28th February at Rose Garden to the RWAs, MWAs, NGOs and other individuals, who rendered services towards society during COVID-19 period.
