Panchkula , October 16 – Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and the Director General, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal today released the ‘Nirjhari’, an epic poetry collection based on the Uttar Ram Katha authored by the late Dr. Nanak Chand, at the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi Bhawan, Sector-14, Panchkula.
Upon arriving at the Academy Bhawan, Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi’s Executive Chairman, Professor Kuldeep Agnihotri, welcomed Dr. Amit Agrawal.
On this occasion, addressing the present authors and literary figures, Dr. Amit Agrawal said that by releasing the poetic work ‘Nirjhari’ based on the Sri Ramkatha which has always been a source of inspiration for writers and especially poets, he pays tribute to the late Dr. Nanak Chand Sharma.

Dr. Amit Agrawal said that Dr. Nanak Chand Sharma, while serving as Assistant Director in Haryana’s then Language Department, successfully edited famous literary magazines such as Jan Sahitya and Saptasindhu.
Dr. Amit Agrawal praised ‘Nirjhari’, based on the Ramayana, as it not only represents literary characteristics but also beautifully highlights our advanced civilization, rich culture, and traditions. The first canto, ‘Vasantotsav’, provides a magnificent description of Lord Ram’s kingdom.
For the first time, engineering courses are started in the Hindi language in Haryana
Dr. Amit Agrawal said that Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal himself has a poet’s heart and takes a keen interest in the activities of academics. The Chief Minister has taken many important decisions to encourage not only Hindi but also other languages. To create a literary environment in the state to promote the appropriate development and preservation of various languages and their literature, and to initiate new plans for literary development, the government merged various language academies and established the Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi, said Dr. Amit Agrawal.
He said that for the first time, engineering courses have been started in Hindi in Haryana, and there are plans to start medical courses in Hindi in the next phase. Dr. Amit Agrawal shared that now even a maximum of written exams are being conducted in the Hindi language.

While emphasizing the promotion and spread of the Hindi language, Dr. Amit Agrawal said that Hindi is our national language and played an important role in instilling a sense of patriotism in people during the freedom struggle.
He emphasised the need to connect the youth with the Hindi language, given that, due to the widespread use of English, the younger generation is drifting away from Hindi. Efforts should be made to engage children with Hindi and raise awareness about our ancient literature.
Dr. Amit Agrawal suggested that collections of prose and poetry in the Hindi language should be published and made available in schools and colleges. He called upon writers to not only promote new authors but also compile ancient poems to make people aware of our rich literary heritage. He expressed confidence that the academy would publish such works to make the country’s ancient literature accessible to people in different languages.
Before this, in his welcome address, Secretary, Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Akademi and Additional Director, Information, Public Relations, Languages and Culture Department, Dr. Kuldeep Saini said that it is a matter of great fortune that ‘Nirjhari’, a poetic work based on Lord Ram, authored by the late Dr. Nanak Chand has been released by Dr. Amit Agrawal on the auspicious occasion of Navaratri. He said that writing about epics like the Ramayana, Ramcharitmanas and the Bhagavad Gita is in itself a challenge, but the late Dr. Nanak Chand Sharma has done remarkable work.
On this occasion, the son of the late Dr. Nanak Chand Sharma, Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma, an author and literary figure, was also present.
