
*Chandigarh, November 19:-* The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today observed World Toilet Day 2025 with renewed commitment toward strengthening safe, accessible and well-maintained sanitation services across the city.
Senior officers of the Corporation undertook extensive field visits in various wards to inspect the condition, cleanliness and functionality of public and community toilets, ensuring that all facilities meet the required standards for citizen comfort and hygiene.

While speaking on the occasion, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, reiterated the crucial role that sanitation plays in safeguarding public health. He emphasized that improving toilet infrastructure is fundamental to preventing waterborne diseases and ensuring a clean, dignified environment for all, especially in densely populated areas.
“World Toilet Day reminds that sanitation is not just a facility—it is a basic human right. The focus is on creating resilient, user-friendly and inclusive sanitation systems that serve every citizen without exception. The Municipal Corporation is committed to regular monitoring, preventive maintenance and rapid redressal of issues to ensure that no community is left behind,” he stated.
He also encouraged residents to adopt responsible sanitation practices and support the city’s efforts toward improved hygiene.
