Induction Programme for New Students started in UIHTM
2nd Day – 10 July 2019  University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Panjab University, Chandigarh started induction programme for newly admitted students of Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) 1st Semester and Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM)1st semester students on 9th July 2019.

        On second day, Major  Daksh Nakra (Head – Northern India, Bird Academy), told students about the latest trends and growth taking place in the aviation sector. He informed students about the increase in the number of functional airports in India and thus increased skilled manpower requirement in the same sector. Later Students got a chance to interact with Mr. Anmol Luthra ( Head- Sales, Park Plaza, Zirakpur) and Ms. Nancy (HR Manager, Park Plaza, Zirakpur) where new students got to know about 
the industrial expectations and the critical areas where students should work hard in their respective areas of interest. Post Lunch Mr. Arvind Verma (Head of Department, Dr. Ambedkar IHM, Chandigarh), told students about the growth aspects of the hotel  industry and sencond day was concluded with the lecture delivered by Mr. Pankaj Jasrotia (Principal, AlHMCA, New Chandigarh) about the Requisites to become a chef.

Notice For Open Counselling of Vacant Seats for the Academic Session 2019-20 Applications are invited for some vacant seats in following courses:- 
1) Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) 
2) Bachelor of Tourism and Travel Management (BTTM) 
Eligible candidates (with at least 50% marks in 10+2 with English as compulsory subject) are advised to send the filled application form through registered /speed post/ by hand to the Director, University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management (UIHTM), Sector -14, Panjab University, Chandigarh 160014. The last date for application is 15th July 2019 till 4 PM.

The Department of Life Long Learning & Extension, Panjab University, Chandigarh is celebrating World Population Day on 11th July, 2019 in Government Senior Secondary School, Sector-15, Chandigarh near 
Gurdwara by organizing painting competition for school students from 8:30 am onwards in collaboration with Inner Wheel club, Chandigarh midtown. There will be a talk on the theme of “Population Growth and Environment” by Mrs. Renu Gandhi, Assistant Professor, (Selection Grade), Department of Life Long Learning & Extension, PU for teachers and students.

A meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice
Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh in the presence of Prof.
Shankarji Jha, Dean of University Instructions, Prof. R.K. Singla,
Computer Centre, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, Computer Centre,
Prof. Gurpal Singh, Department of Evening Studies, Prof. Neena
Capalash, Dean Student Welfare (Women), Prof. Jatinder Grover,
Department of Education, Prof. Baijnath Prasad, Department of Hindi
and Ms. Renuka B. Salwan, Director, Public Relations to review and
monitor the ongoing admissions at PU, was held here today.

Panjab University has touched the figure of 32,900, the last date of
which is July 10, 2019. However, 16,157 number of applications
complete in all respects have been submitted. The revised admission
