IGNOU extends Admission up to 28th February, 2020

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for online submission of application for re-evaluation of answer scripts pertaining to TEE December 2019 till 15th June, 2020 only for those courses/students whose results have been declared after 20th February 2020. The Revised Notification for the extension of last date for online submission of application for re-evaluation of answer scripts pertaining to TEE December 2019 is available on IGNOU website. This Notification supersedes the earlier Notification issued on 26th May 2020 in this regard.  A circular was issued for the cancellation of the earlier notification.

Dr. Anil Kumar Dimri, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Chandigarh informed that owing to the extension of lockdown on account of Corona Virus (COVID-19 many such learners who could not apply earlier can now apply for re-evaluation. IGNOU Postpones June, 2020 Exams till further Notification

Chandigarh:

IGNOU extends Admission up to 28th February, 2020

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has decided to postpone its Term End Examination (TEE) June, 2020 which were scheduled to be held with effect from 1st June, 2020 till further notification. Dr. Anil Kumar Dimri, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Chandigarh informed that this has been done by the University due to the outburst and infectious growth of Corona Virus (Covid-19) and subsequent prolonged lockdown The next schedule of examination will be displayed on the websites of IGNOU HQs. (www.ignou.ac.in) and the Regional Centre Chandigarh (http://rcchandigarh.ignou.ac.in). All the students who have submitted the examination forms online, will be informed through phone messages (SMS), emails etc. giving a time of 15 days in advance.

For Detailed News-

Dr. Dimri advised all the concerned learners to prepare for the examination and should be ready to take the examination at short notice. The students are also advised to keep checking the status on the University’s and Regional Centre’s websites at short intervals. Further to facilitate the learners in the situation of the nationwide lockdown the University has extended the last dates for online submission of scan copy of the handwritten assignments in PDF file, Examination forms and Re-admission form upto 31st May, 2020.

Dr. Dimri also informed that for the students who have to submit project reports as part of the evaluation process in some subject, the project submission process has also been made online for which guidelines will be issued by the University separately. In respect of the programmes requiring field work and collection of primary data, exploration and analysis of secondary research data would be allowed in lieu of field work.

सम्पूर्ण देश में लॉक डाउन की स्थिति में इग्नू, क्षेत्रीय चंडीगढ़ ने यह निर्णय लिया है कि ऑनलाइन माध्यमों से परिचय बैठके आयोजित की जाये |इग्नू में जनवरी 2020 के विधार्थियों की परिचय बैठक का आयोजन होना था | लेकिन लॉक डाउन के कारण इसमें देरी हो रही थी अत: इग्नू, अध्ययन केंद्र (0601) यूनिवर्सिटी स्कूल ऑफ़ ओपन लर्निंग के जनवरी -2020 सत्र के विधार्थियों की परिचय बैठक फेसबुक पेज के माध्यम से ऑनलाइन आयोजित की गई| जिसमे लगभग 118 विधार्थियों ने ऑनलाइन भाग लिया|  डॉ अनिल कुमार डिमरी, क्षेत्रीय निदेशक, इग्नू, क्षेत्रीय केंद्र, चंडीगढ़ ने  अध्ययन केंद्र (0601) के विधार्थियों को  संबोधित किया और इग्नू एवं अध्ययन केन्द्रो की कार्यप्रणाली से विधार्थियों को अवगत करवा और विधार्थियों को इस कठिन दौर में समय का सद-उपयोग करते हुए अपनी असाइनमेंट हैंड रिटेन तैयार करें और इन असाइनमेंट्स की PDF फाइल तैयार कर [email protected] आई डी पर विधार्थी विवरण के साथ भेजें | सामान्य स्थिति में, इग्नू अपने विधार्थियों को अध्ययन सामग्री डाक के माध्यम से भेजता है परन्तु  कोरोना लॉक डाउन को मध्यनजर ये संभव नहीं हो पा रहा है अत: इस विपरीत स्थिति में उन्होंने अनेकों डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म की जानकारी प्रदान की जैसे:  इग्नू की अध्ययन सामग्री http://egyankosh.ac.in/ वेबसाइट पर उपलब्ध है या विधार्थी इग्नू की अप्प भी डाउनलोड कर अध्ययन सामग्री का प्रयोग अध्ययन हेतु कर सकते  है |

इसके इलावा इग्नू यह भी प्रयास कर रहा है कि विधार्थियों के कुछ विषयों की काउंसलिंग ऑनलाइन माध्यमो से की जाये | इस विषय पर अध्ययन केन्द्रो के समन्वयको से सम्पर्क बनाकर और अधिक सुगम बनाने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है | अंत में डॉ डिमरी ने जानकारी प्रदान करते हुए बताया कि इग्नू ने असाइनमेंट्स और परीक्षा फॉर्म जमा करवाने की अंतिम तिथि 30 अप्रैल तक बढ़ा दी है और उन्होंने विधार्थियों के प्रशनों के उतर प्रदान किये | विधार्थियों को नये शैक्षणिक सत्र को सफलतापूर्वक पूर्ण करने की शुभकामनाएँ प्रदान करते हुए कोरोना से बचने हेतु सोशल डिस्टेंस का पालन करने का अनुरोध भी किया |  घर पर रहे |  सुरक्षित रहे ||

IGNOU - 33rd Convocation Held on 17th February, 2020.

The 33rd Convocation of IGNOU was held today on 17th February, 2020 (Monday) at IGNOU, Hqrs., New Delhi and its 39 Regional Centres simultaneously. Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, was the Chief Guest for the convocation function and delivered the convocation address at IGNOU Headquarters, New Delhi and the Convocation of IGNOU, Regional Centre, Chandigarh and Regional Centre, Khanna was held at the auditorium of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector – 36B, Chandigarh. Shri Chanranjit Singh Channi, Hon’ble Minister, Technical Education & Industrial Training, Govt. of Punjab, presided over the function and delivered the convocation address at RC Chandigarh and awarded Degrees/Diplomas to 351 students of Master Degrees and Professional Bachelor Degrees. In the convocation 5627 successful learners were awarded Degrees & Diplomas. In the previous convocation 1767 students were awarded degree. The significant increase in the awardees reflects the quality of support services provided to our learners by the Learners Support Centres.

IGNOU - 33rd Convocation Held on 17th February, 2020.

Ms. Arti Verma student of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed, Ms. Divya Garg student of Post Graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice (PGDCJ), Ms. Shivani Sharma Student of Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Technology (PGDET) from Chandigarh Regional Centre and Mr. Amardeep Singh student of Diploma in Tourism Study (DTS) from Khanna Regional Centre were awarded gold medal in the function held at IGNOU, Hqrs., New Delhi.

Dr. Anil K. Dimri, Regional Director presented the annual report of the Regional Centre. In his report he mentioned that with a network of 30 Study Centres, Chandigarh Region of IGNOU, admits more than 18000 students per year and during the academic session 2019-20 the total student strength was 17790 registering an increase of 30.62 per cent over the last year.  He also shared that 62 students from this region have received their Degree with distinction and 1600 learners with 1st Division. Dr. Dimri, highlighted the activities of the Centre and advised the students to take advantages of Open & Distance Learning based education, as this is cost effective and accessible to the common people. He also emphasized that IGNOU, Regional Centre Chandigarh is making sincere efforts to procure land for Regional Centre building for construction of its campus. 

With a view to promote Open and Distance Learning education Regional Centre, Chandigarh was established in the year 2009 covering  Panchkula, Mohali, Ambala, Patiala, Ropar, Fatehgarh Sahib and UT Chandigarh district. At inception of Regional Centre, Chandigarh there were only 05 Learner Support Centres which are presently 30 almost covering all the districts under this region and has witnessed  10 times growth in enrolment during last 11 years.

Dr. Santosh Kumari, Regional Director, IGNOU, Regional Centre, Khanna has also presented report and achievements of Regional Centre, Khanna on this occasion. She highlighted the importance of distance education and various activities of Regional Centre Khanna. She emphasized that Regional Centre, Khanna is play important role in imparting traing to the School level volunteer as more than 16000. Such volunteer are enrolled with DECE Programme of IGNOU from the State of Punjab.

Out of 5627 awardees, 1523 were from Master, 2166 from different Bachelor, 64 from Diploma and 789 from PG Diploma.

Chief Guest Shri Chanranjit Singh Channi, Hon’ble Minister, Technical Education & Industrial Training, Govt. of Punjab, awarded the Degrees and Diplomas to 351 successful learners of IGNOU. In his convocation address, he emphasized the role of Open & Distance Learning system in the present context and shared that our youths should come forward to take the advantage of the system. Mr. Singh highlighted that the greatest hallmarks of IGNOU which is lacking in Conventional University system is the considerable degree of  flexibility in entry qualification, place, pace, lateral entry and exit points and duration of  study. He also pointed out that conventional education system miserably fall short in meeting this ever increasing demand of higher education because of the inherent limitations of restricted intake. What is the way forward? Open Distance Learning (ODL) is the answer. The potential of this mode of education was realized long ago and a separate Department of Distance Education as part of the conventional university system became a reality. The country realized the need and potential of the distance learning as a viable, sustainable and cost-effective recipe to cope with the mounting pressure of higher education. He also advised the learners not to violate the basic matrix of morality, values of honour, dignity, friendship, social well-being and compassion towards fellow men. No idea or prescription can be above the conscience of humankind, prime mission of the learner is to serve your family, your fellow men, the society and the country as a whole. One could be a good professional only if one is good human being.

The Principal, Dr. Agneesh Dhillon, Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector – 36B, Chandigarh has also spoke on the occasion, who received the award of best IGNOU, Programme Study Centre in Chandigarh region.

The Principal’s of different Degree Colleges of Chandigarh, Coordinators of IGNOU, Study Centre Staff, Academic Counsellors, and other Guests were present on this occasion. The programme was also attended by Dr. Savita Panwar, Asstt. Regional Director & Dr. Nurul Hasan, Asstt. Regional Director and other staff of the Regional Centre. The programme was conducted by Dr. Savita Panwar, Asstt. Regional Director and vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Nurul Hasan, Asstt. Regional Director.

Details of the IGNOU academic programmes for the January, 2020 session can be accessed from the link https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/. The prospective learners can apply for Masters/Bachelor/Diploma/Certificate programmes of the University on the official website, informed The Regional Director of IGNOU Regional centre Chandigarh Dr. A.K.Dimri. Last date of submission of ‘online’ admission form for January, session was earlier fixed for 15th February. 

For all those candidates, who have been planning to get admission in any of the IGNOU courses can apply for the same online. Firstly the candidate has to register themselves (if not registered) on the official website i.e  https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/index.php/registration/user/register. Whereas those who have already registered can simply login with the id- password and fill up the application form for the admission in the January session at Indira Gandhi National Open University for 2020. IGNOU: “Annual Coordinator Meeting Held on 07th February, 2020”.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre, Chandigarh organized Annual Coordinator Meeting with the Coordinator and Programme In charge of IGNOU Study Centre in Chandigarh held on 07th February, 2019. All the Coordinators and Programme Incharges participated in the meeting from Chandigarh, Panchkula, Ambala, Patiala, Ropar and Morni Hills.

IGNOU: “Annual Coordinator Meeting Held on 07th February, 2020”.

The meeting presided over by Dr. M. Sanmugam, Director, Regional Service Division, IGNOU, Hqrs. New Delhi. While addressing the coordinators Dr. Sanmugam shared that IGNOU is going to launch its programme through online mode. The Ministry of MHRD, Govt. of India has given its permission for IGNOU to conduct the programme through online. He also shared that IGNOU has been exempted from the UGC Regulation 2017. IGNOU would ensure high standard of its programme delivery. Dr. Sanmugam informed that the total enrolment of distance education from IGNOU is 12% and every year IGNOU enroll more than 11 lakh students through distance mode of learning in various programme. He also instructed the coordinators to make maximum use of new technology to reach out to the learners.

Dr. Anil K. Dimri, Regional Director welcome the Coordinators and Programme Incharges and presented the annual report of Regional Centre, Chandigarh and also highlighted the achievement of Regional Centre, Chandigarh. In his report he shared that the enrolment of the Regional Centre, Chandigarh has increased by 30% during last year and has gone up to 17790 learners. He also shared with the support of coordinators the publicity and the promotion activities adopted by Regional Centre reached to the unreached. Dr. Savita Panwar (A. R. D.) shared the monitoring mechanism system with the coordinator and requested for submission of Monthly Monitoring Report every month to Regional Centre for analysis of Student Support Services. Dr. Nurul Hasan (A.R.D.) highlighted the issues pertaining to assignments and promotion and publicity activities of IGNOU. Mr. Tejpal Singhal (E. D. P.) explained the coordinator about how to fill the online Academic Counsellor form of the University. The meeting was also supported by all the staff members of the Regional Centre. All the coordinators were given 10 minutes to present their views and feedback. At the end of the Meeting a vote of thanks was given by Dr. Savita Panwar (A. R. D.) for the cooperation received by Regional Centre from its Study Centre and also requested for their full support in the future endeavors of the University to provide quality and need based education to the society. Following Coordinators were present in the meeting: Mr. J. J. Singh, Dr. Amitabh Dwivedi, Dr. Kiron Angra, Dr. Vandan Awasthi, Dr. Anuradah Agnihotri, Mr. Harpreet Singh, Mr. Pawan Kumar, Mr. Parveen Kumar etc.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started the process of online admission for the session January, 2020 for all the programmes.  The interested applicants can apply through the online link: https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/ available on IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in. The last date for admission in all the Masters, Bachelors, PG Diploma, Diploma and Certificate Programmes is 31st December, 2019 without late. The interested applicants may contact the Regional Centre Chandigarh office or the nearest IGNOU, Study Centre for any assistance in online admission.

Admission Open for January, 2020 Session in IGNOU

SC/ST students will be admitted without charging any fee in some of the Certificate/Diploma/PG Diploma & Graduate Programmes and they will have to apply online and to upload all necessary documents for fee exemption. For further information regarding the courses on offer the applicants may see the IGNOU website or IGNOU Regional Centre Chandigarh website. IGNOU – Post B. Sc. Nursing Entrance Test on 9th November, 2019

Chandigarh:

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is conducting Entrance Test for Post B. Sc. Nursing on 

Saturday, 9th November, 2019 (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM) for admission in Post B. Sc. Nursing Programmes for January, 2020 Session. 

The Entrance Test is being organized at 47 Examination Centres of IGNOU across the country accommodating 4626 candidates. 

Under Chandigarh Regional Centre the Entrance Test will be organized at Lajpat Rai Bhawan, Sector – 15B, Chandigarh accommodating 209 candidates.

The Hall-Tickets have already been UPLOADED ON the University website www.ignou.ac.in . The candidates are advised to download the hall ticket by entering their username and password and report to the Examination Centre.  In case candidates are unable to download the Hall-Ticket, they can contact the Regional Centre and obtain a print out of the hall ticket from the Regional Centre.

Candidates must report at the Examination Centre 45 minutes before commencement of the Entrance Test. Due to operational reasons request for change of examination centre will not be entertained
