Commissioner starts tree plantation drives at sector 24 & 41

Chandigarh, August 22:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today started tree plantation drives in sector 24 and in sector 41.

During the drive at sector 24 the Commissioner planted saplings of medicinal plants including Amla, Bahera & Neem etc. during which Sh. Paramjeet Singh, Learned District & Session Judge-cum-Chairman and Sh. Amarinder Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, UT, Chandigarh.

Similarly in sector 41 the Commissioner planted saplings of ornamental trees and flowering shrubs. During the drive Sh. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor and area councilor, Sh. Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Sports, UT, Chandigarh and prominent persons of area also planted various saplings of different plants.

The local market association representatives requested the Commissioner to shift the Sunday scooter market from sector 41-D market to another alternate location as the Sunday scooter market creates hindrance to their business. The market association representatives extended thanks to the Commissioner for providing new toilet block near the market.

The Commissioner asked the concerned engineers of horticulture wing to provide tree guards to the newly planted saplings for their proper upkeep and safeguard. He appealed to the local residents to adopt trees for their upkeep.

In addition to that Zonal Commissioners visits their respective areas alongwith the Executive Engineers and Sub Divisional Engineers to take stock of the ongoing works initiated by the MCC and public issues related to the Corporation.

Commissioner starts plantation drive in sector 52

Chandigarh, August 13:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today started tree plantation drive in a green belt at sector 52 in presence of Smt. Chanderawati Shukla, area councilor and Sh. Krishanpal Singh, Executive Engineer, Horticulture wing, prominent persons of local area and concerned officers of MCC.

During the drive 100 saplings of different ornamental and medicinal plants were planted including shrubs.

Mayor and Commissioner reviews Water supply work progress at Jandpur

Chandigarh, August 7:- Sh. Rajesh Kumar Mayor of Chandigarh and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today visited Jandpur pumping station to review the actual progress of work at site.

They were accompanied by Sh. Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer, Sh. Shelender Singh, SE, Public Health and other concerned officers of MCC.

The Chief Engineer apprised the Mayor & Commissioner that the work of bringing additional 29 MGD Raw water from Kajauli to Chandigarh under Augmentation of water supply scheme Phase 5 and 6 is nearing completion now. The work of pumping raw water from Kajauli upto Jandpur (shipur) has been done by GAMADA as a deposit work for which Rs 98 crores has been deposited by M.C Chandigarh.

The work of pumping raw water from Jandpur upto waterworks sector 39 has been done by M.C. Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs 89 crore. After the repair and testing of defective pipeline under the Railway track near Mehruli by Railways, the pumping was started by GAMADA by operating one pump initially from Kajauli waterworks last week.

He apprised that the water was scheduled to reach the tank at pump house, jandpur upto 8-8-2019. Directions to the officers to check and retest the functioning of pumping machinery and to clean the tanks before the arrival of raw water at Jandpur which is expected to reach there within 2-3 days.

Commissioner reviews issues and works of MCC

Chandigarh, August 5: – Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today issued directions to all the branches of MCC for compiling service matters for restructuring of employee strength in the offices.

During the Monday review meeting the Commissioner asked the branch heads of different wings to prepare details of court cases of service matters pending and put up all service matters for restructuring according to the guidelines of Chandigarh Administration. He said that this should be done in campaign mode and process the case at the earliest.

The commissioner asked for status of other issues including progress on online fire NOCs, biometric attendance devices, GPS system on all vehicles, shifting of sanitation workers to the Horticulture wing, lifting of horticulture waste from the parks maintained by RWAs, daily report of operation & functional report of C&D waste plant alongwith maintaining daily stock register, status of renovation of cremation ground at industrial area, Ph-I, status of Petrol pump sites, report of mobile workshops in roads division, status of levying entertainment tax.

The commissioner directed the concerned officers to create revenue branch which will look after all type of works related to revenue and receipts. The commissioner directed all the concerned officers/officials to deposit checks received in shape of earnest money or others within 3 days after receiving it failing which responsibility be fixed of the concerned officer/officials and interest of the same be charged from their salary.

Mayor & Commissioner visits different areas of city on Thursday

Chandigarh, August 1:- 

Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor of Chandigarh and Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today visited various parts of city to take stock of ongoing works initiated by MCC and problems in the rural areas.

The Mayor & Commissioner was accompanied by all senior officers including Sh. Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer, Sh. Shelender Singh, SE, Public Health, Sh. Sanjay Arora, SE, B&R, Executive engineers and Sub Divisional Engineers all engineering wing of MCC.

In the morning time the Mayor and Commissioner started visit from Sector 27 with plantation drive at a park near Chandigarh Press Club alongwith Sh. Devender Singh Babla, area councilor and local residents. After taking round of the area the Mayor and Commissioner visited Sector 25 alongwith area councilor Smt. Sheela Devi and other concerned officers.

The Commissioner asked the Executive Engineer, Horticulture Division to develop the parks properly i.e. by providing grassing, flower beds, huts, benches, children play equipments and footpaths, wherever required. He also took round of the slum area at sector 25, where the Commissioner directed the public health engineers to check the feasibility of renovating the toilet blocks, constructed by the Administration, which are now in abandon shape. The Commissioner also directed the officers of Estate branch, MCC to check the status of the toilet blocks, whether it belongs to MCC or falls under the jurisdiction of Administration and also check whether the toilet blocks be renovated by MCC.

During the visit at Community Centre, Sector 25, the Commissioner directed the concerned engineers of B&R wing to prepare estimate to upgrade/renovate the community centre immediately.

In the evening the Mayor & Commissioner visited Raipur Kalan village alongwith Sh. Rambir Bhatti and other prominent leaders of the area. They apprised the team of officers that the cremation ground in the village be renovated and rest of the land adjoining the cremation ground may be used for developing park. The Commissioner asked the chief Engineer to conduct a survey in the area and took up the matter with Architect, Chandigarh Administration for development of the area.

The Commissioner directed the Public Health engineers to level the drainage pipelines in the village and resolve the problem of sewerage blockage. He asked the engineers to prepare estimates for carpet the roads wherever required and use pavers in the narrow streets. The Commissioner asked the engineers to check the water supply lines in the area with regard to enhance water supply or replacement of pipelines etc.

On the demand of villagers, the Commissioner asked the engineers to check feasibility to provide community centre over there. He also asked to check other issues including repair of street lights and provision of new light points in the village and development of parks etc.

During the visit at Raipur Khurd, the local residents demanded enhancement of water supply to the area especially in the Tribune Colony. The commissioner asked concerned engineers to strengthen the sewerage disposal system in the area, recarpetting of roads, provision of street lights and enhancement of water supply to the village.

In addition to that the zonal commissioners including Sh. Sanjay Kumar Jha, IAS, Special Commissioner, Sh. Tilak Raj, Sh. S.K. Jain and Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners also visited their respective areas alongwith concerned engineers to take stock of the ongoing works of MCC and progress of the issues taken up in the last visits.

The special focus was on Jal Shakti Abhiyan, under which the zonal commissioner checked the possibilities of rainwater harvesting in their respective areas alongwith tree plantation in the parks/green belts and open spaces.

 Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner of Chandigarh today started tree plantation drive near park, Sector 24, Chandigarh in the presence local residents of area and other officers of MCC.

During the drives around 125 flowering shrubs & 6 trees were planted inside the local park. In addition to that 20 ornamental trees and 50 shrubs have been planted in a drive held at Valley park, Dhanas in presence of area councillor Smt. Sheela Devi and local residents.
