Fire Safety Programme at GH-8 at PU

Florence Nightingale, Girls Hostel No. 8, Sector-25, Panjab University in association with Nautical Institute (NI) conducted Fire Safety, Assessment and Awareness Programme here today.

The Committee consisting of Capt. Parvesh Ahluwalia as Chairman, Cadet Simranjit Kaur and Mr. Harshit Seaman conducted the programme and delivered lecture come awareness talk to the staff members. The various fire safety issues regarding Hostel Mess/canteen, laundering and tailoring sites were discussed. The main aim of the programme was to educate the staff and workers about the causes of fires and how to deal and prevent fire. So this type of drive is demand of today to make everyone aware
and do assessment and familiarization with the fire safety norms. It was also decided that this type of awareness & drill will be organized in other hostels of Panjab University in phased manner.
Prof. Emanual Nahar, Dean Students Welfare in his address shared his views about the recent fire accidents in Surat, Gujrat in which students from private coaching centres died.
NI is an international organization of seafaring professional based in London. Capt. M.S. Kahlon is the chairman of Chandigarh Chapter is a NINW, Chandigarh region Branch organisation under the umbrella of NI.
The programme was attended by Prof. Neena Capalash Dean Student Welfare(Women), Wardens of different hostel alongwith the staff and workers of mess and canteen.
