Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh visited Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF)/CIL and Department of Computer Science & Application of Panjab University, Chandigarh. It was a routine round of PU VC where he checked the instruments and appreciated the whole set up of SAIF/CIL. He assured them of addressing issues relating to manpower. He directed Sh. R.K. Rai, XEN, PU to plug the issue of water logging and leakage at the basement of both the buildings.

Tree plantation was carried out in the department of Biochemistry, Panjab University today from 3 pm onwards with the assistance of the Horticulture department of the University. More than 40 trees of Ashoka and Hamilia were planted in the premises of the BMS Block-II in South campus. “A lot of excitement could be seen among the faculty, staff and students of the department and they have adopted the same with a promise to nurture the trees for a greener campus” as stated by the Chairperson of the department, Prof. Archana Bhatnagar.

“The students were asked to constantly innovate and reinvent by acquiring new skills”, said Shri. Mandip S Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Chandigarh, while addressing the MBA (Sectoral) Batch 2019-21 of University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Panjab University, Chandigarh at the Orientation Programme, here today. He stressed on the importance of written as well as oral communication skills in order to motivate or to influence people. He also added that listening of equally important to understand the perspective of the other side. She Brar further added that to be a good leader, one has to be a good follower. He further urged the students to maintain high level of integrity and follow values and ethics, both in professional life as well as in personal conduct.
Prof. Raj Kumar ,Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh in his address appreciated UIAMS for its industry specific specialised courses. He advised the students to use these two years to equip themselves with the right skills. He encouraged the students towards the culture of innovation, start-ups and entrepreneurship. PU, VC encouraged the students to extend their interaction across other departments and build multi-disciplinary approach to innovations and problem solving. He urged them to work for Corporate linkages.
Shri. T.K. Ruby CEO Raymed Pharmaceutical Ltd. Chandigarh in his address said that the students are like waves of the sea and they should not and cannot be stopped. They have immense potential but they have to take up the responsibility for their own lives. He also shared his mantras of success with the students stating that physical fitness, mental alertness, goal clarity and proactiveness are absolutely essential. The Director, UIAMS, Prof. Upasna Joshi welcomed the esteemed guests and the new students to the occasion. She briefed the students about the Institute, the teaching learning process at UIAMS and the various activities to be conducted in the next two years. The students were also briefed about the various curricular and co-curricular clubs in UIAMS that the students can be a part of. They were further briefed about the placement activities organised by the placement cell at UIAMS.

पंजाब के कैबिनेट मंत्री नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू ने कैबिनेट मंत्री पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है। सिद्धू ने 10 जून को राहुल गांधी के नाम से त्याग पत्र भेजा था, जिसे उन्होंने आज ट्वीट कर सार्वजनिक किया।
हालांंकि मुख्यमंत्री के मीडिया सलाहकार रवीन ठुकराल का कहना है कि मुख्यमंत्री कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह के पास अभी तक नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू का कोई इस्तीफा नहीं पहुंचा है। इस्तीफे की जानकारी उन्हें मीडिया से ही पता चली है।
वहीं, सिद्धू ने एक अन्य ट्वीट कर कहा है कि वह अपना इस्तीफा सीएम कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह को सौंपेेंगे। एक माह पूर्व कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने उनके विभाग में बदलाव किया था।
सिद्धू स्थानीय निकाय मंत्री थे, कैप्टन ने लोकसभा चुनाव के बाद मंत्रिमंडल मेंं बदलाव करते हुए उन्हें ऊर्जा मंत्री की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी, लेकिन सिद्धू इससे नाराज थे। उन्होंने अभी तक ऊर्जा मंत्री के रूप में कार्यभार नहीं संभाला था।
नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू ने बताया कि राहुल गांधी को वह अपना इस्तीफा 10 जून 2019 को दे दिया था लेकिन खुलासा आज किया। जानकारी के लिए आपको बता दें कि पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री अमरिंदर सिंह और नवजोत सिद्धू के बीच कुछ दिनों से मनमुटाब की खबरें थीं।
लोकसभा चुनाव 2019 में पंजाब में कांग्रेस की अच्छी सीटें नहीं मिली थी। सीएम कैप्टन अमरिंदर सिंह ने इसकी ठीकरा नवजोत सिंद्धू पर फोड़ा था साथ ही उन्होंने आलाकमान से उनके खिलाफ कार्रवाई की मांग की थी।
इतना ही नहीं, मुख्यमंत्री ने लोकसभा चुनाव के बाद 6 जून को हुई कैबिनेट की पहली ही बैठक में नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू सहित कई मंत्रियों के विभाग बदल दिए थे।

A team of six students from UIET, Panjab University, participated and won the 1st prize in the Smart India Hackathon 2019- Hardware Edition held at IIT Hyderabad from 8th-12th July 2019. The team was given the problem of preventing accidents like sudden increase in temperature, pressure, vibration, noise etc. in industries, by the company Kokuyo Camlin. Solution involved using real time monitoring, tracking dashboard, predicting critical situations and taking automated control measures. Total 20,000 teams participated in the initial rounds and 250 qualified for the nationals to solve problems on 117 problem statements. The team was declared winner of the 5 day National Finals at IIT Hyderabad after clearing the idea round, the prototyping round and the finale.They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-. The team comprised of UIET students: Akshay Kumar (CSE), Bipin Kumar (IT), CharviMendiratta (ECE), Dhawal Sharda (ECE), Sagar Kalra (IT), Rahul Bafila (CSE) as participants, and Mayur Vashishth (MECH) and Pranav Kumar (ECE) as mentors.
