IGNOU extends Admission up to 31st August, 2019

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date of submission of online fresh admission of all Masters, Bachelor, Diplomas & Certificates programmes up to 31st August, 2019 for the July-2019 session. Details of the IGNOU academic programmes for the July, 2019 session can be accessed from the link http://onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in/admission/. The prospective learners can apply for Masters/Bachelor/Diploma/Certificate programmes of the University on the official website, informed The Regional Director of IGNOU Regional centre Chandigarh Dr. A.K.Dimri. Last date of submission of ‘online’ admission form for July session was earlier fixed for August, 27. 

For all those candidates, who have been planning to get admission in any of the IGNOU courses can apply for the same online. Firstly the candidate has to register themselves (if not registered) on the official website i.e onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in. Whereas those who have already registered can simply login with the id- password and fill up the application form for the admission in the July session at Indira Gandhi National Open University for 2019. Also, before filling up the IGNOU admission form, candidates must go through the general instructions, eligibility criteria, fee details, duration, etc . on the official website. Applicants can also download the complete details of the programmes from the IGNOU website or may contact at Regional Centre office at SCO-208, Sector-14, Panchkula.

MCC to organize “Light & Sound Show” on the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Chandigarh, August 27: – The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is going to organize “Light & Sound Show” on the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the mid of September, 2019.

This was decided in a meeting of the implementation committee constituted for planning the activities of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor and attended by other members of the committee namely Sh. Jagtar Singh, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh, Maj. Gen. M.S. Kandal, Sh. Tilak Raj, HCS, Additional Commissioner and other concerned officers of MCC.

The committee discussed and decided that as a part of celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, MCC will organize Kirtan Darbars throughout the city in four zones i.e. Khudda Ali Sher, Manimajra, Sector 46 and Sector 41, Chandigarh. The members also decided that a big programme will be organize at Parade ground, Sector 17 by involving all Gurudwara committees of the city.

The committee members discussed and decided that a light & sound show on the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji will be organize in Leisure Valley during mid of September. The committee decided that commutative items like wall frames of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, Thought of the day table calendars, mementoes will be manufactured for distribution in different events.

Women Empowerment Committee to promote cloth bags in city

Chandigarh, August 27:- A meeting of Women Empowerment Committee was held here today under the chairpersonship of Smt. Asha Jaswal and attended by other members including Smt. Sunita Dhawan, Dr. Jyotsna Wig, Smt. Sheela Devi, Smt. Gurbax Rawat, Smt. Farmila.

During the meeting other issues were discussed and decided:

·        The Committee will promote cloth hand bags throughout city by arranging programmes. It was decided that these cloth bags will be arranged through sponsorship as CSR activity and distributed to the public free of cost.

·        Programmes related to women will be organized involving women employees of MCC at Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38.

·        Smt. Sunita Dhawan, councilor member has been elected vice chairperson of the committee unanimously.

·        Bus service should be provided to the MCC employees for office especially for women employees. They asked the concerned officials to conduct survey regarding this.

PU Dental Professor Delivers Key Inaugural Note at Joint National Dental Speciality Conference at Puducherry

Chandigarh August 27, 2019 

  Indian Society of Periodontology and Indian Prosthodontics Society , a 44 year old and 38 year old organizations respectively, for the first time have joined hands to do a collaborative event ‘PROS-PER’ at Puducherry which concluded on Sunday. Dr Ashish Jain, Professor at PU Dental Institute and Director, Internal Quality Assurance 
Cell, Panjab University delivered key inaugural talk at the event. He spoke about the current trends and future perspectives on the technologies in Implant Dentistry. Dr Jain spoke on the latest technology available for the maintenance of oral health with special emphasis on ‘Dual Zinc-Arginine technology’ and the role of Zinc in the daily 
routine of oral hygiene for the general population. He shared with the audience about an indigenously developed technology wherein patient’s own tooth can be converted into Bone-graft and placed in the same patient during placement of immediate implants. The event was attended by over 400 delegates from across the country which was held at picturesque MAHE Dental Institute’s auditorium.

Induction Programme concludes at PU

Chandigarh August 26, 2019 

University Institute of Engineering and Technology(UIET), Panjab University(PU) organized a three week Induction Programme for the newly admitted students of first year in which students were sensitized  towards exploring their 
academic interests and activities. Several activities like Yoga, meditation, marathon are being organised for their physical, mental and spiritual growth.


        Valedictory function was organized, here today which was graced  by Shri Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Honourable Cabinet Minister of Education, Government of Assam. He encouraged the students to live their lives to the fullest, focus on co-curricular activities along with their studies. 


        Prof Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU motivated and shared his valuable thoughts with the students. Shri. Maninder Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam was also present on the occasion. 
     

  The event started with a welcome address by Prof. Savita Gupta, Director UIET. The Director, UIET briefed about various activities organized during the induction programme.

Mayor & Commissioner allocates 52 cycle carts to safaikarmacharis

Chandigarh, August 26:- Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor & Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today allocated 52 cycle carts to the Safaikarmacharis for lifting small heaps of garbage from streets.

The cycle carts were handed over to safaikarmacharis under the concerned four chief sanitary inspectors i.e. 13 to each for street sweeping purposes. The Mayor and Commissioner also issued Identity cards to the newly joined outsourced staff from the compassionate grounds in the motor garage, industrial area Ph-I.

In addition to that brooms, bamboo sticks, panja and scrapers have been distributed amongst the Safaikarmacharis for lifting garbage etc. from the road sides.

During the occasion the Mayor instructed the concerned officials of sanitation wing for issuing required items on priority basis to the safaikarmacharis from time to time. He asked them to arrange regular health checkup camps keeping in view proper health & hygiene of the safaikarmacharis.

Commissioner starts tree plantation drives at sector 24 & 41

Chandigarh, August 22:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today started tree plantation drives in sector 24 and in sector 41.

During the drive at sector 24 the Commissioner planted saplings of medicinal plants including Amla, Bahera & Neem etc. during which Sh. Paramjeet Singh, Learned District & Session Judge-cum-Chairman and Sh. Amarinder Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, UT, Chandigarh.

Similarly in sector 41 the Commissioner planted saplings of ornamental trees and flowering shrubs. During the drive Sh. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor and area councilor, Sh. Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Sports, UT, Chandigarh and prominent persons of area also planted various saplings of different plants.

The local market association representatives requested the Commissioner to shift the Sunday scooter market from sector 41-D market to another alternate location as the Sunday scooter market creates hindrance to their business. The market association representatives extended thanks to the Commissioner for providing new toilet block near the market.

The Commissioner asked the concerned engineers of horticulture wing to provide tree guards to the newly planted saplings for their proper upkeep and safeguard. He appealed to the local residents to adopt trees for their upkeep.

In addition to that Zonal Commissioners visits their respective areas alongwith the Executive Engineers and Sub Divisional Engineers to take stock of the ongoing works initiated by the MCC and public issues related to the Corporation.

MCC sub panel to visit Nasik to see carcass incinerator plant

Chandigarh, August 22:- A meeting sub committee constituted for carcass incinerator plant was held here under the chairpersonship of Smt. Asha Jaswal and attended by other members including Smt. Sunita Dhawan, Smt. Sheela Devi, Sh. Bharat Kumar, Sh. Vinod Aggarwl, Dr. Amrit Pal Singh, MOH, Dr. M.S. Kamboj, Superintendent Slaughter House and special invitees namely Smt. Farmila, councillor, Sh. N.P. Sharma, GM (Technical), Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. and Sh. Amit Sharma, SDE, Solid Waste Management, MCC.     The members were apprised by Sh NP Sharma about the technology that dead animals both small and large will be cremated in chambers at a very high temperature with LPG gas.There will not be any foul smell during and after burning as the dead animal will be converted to ash at such a high temperature. All Pollution Control systems will be provided and real time data will be displayed and observed by Pollution Committee. 


Dr Kamboj informed the members that presently large animals are lifted and opened up for skin and bones by hired contractor in open area in the city. This way there is putrefaction and foul smelling causing a threat of diseases. Small animals like dogs and cats are dumped in the city and many of them go to the dumping ground along with garbage. This further pollute the surroundings in absence of scientific disposal system. This is against the rules for biomedical waste disposal. Sh NP Sharma stressed that incineration by burning is only permitted method for dead animal disposal. 


All the members were of the view that incineration plant is an urgent need of the city for benefit of city environment. 


   The members reiterated   to see the functional facility at Nasik in Maharashtra which is very much environment friendly. The members also said that such a facility will be of great benefit for the city environment. They said that such technologies are an asset for saving the city environment from disease threats.


  The committee members finally decided to visit Nasik to see this facility in the interest of city beautiful environment and to do away with age old health hazard method of dead Animal disposal.
