11TH MEETING OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS, CSCL

Chandigarh, September 18:- 11th Meeting of Board of Directors of CSCL was held here today under the Chairmanship of Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh. During the meeting, Board has discussed various projects in detail and accorded approval to different projects to be implemented under Smart City Mission by Chandigarh Smart City Limited.

            The Board of CSCL has accorded sanction to award the work of Mining of Legacy Waste to the lowest successful bidder, M/s SMS Limited of Nagpur at the cost of Rs. 34 Crores against the estimated cost of 40 Crores. This work will be completed in a time span of 18 Months and the city will be able to get rid of the 5 Lakh Metric Tonne of Garbage Dump accumulated in Daddumajra over the years. The Waste Garbage Dump will be cleared of by the selected firm in scientific and hygienic manner. The residents in the vicinity will get rid of the foul smell and leachate, oozing out from the garbage dump.

            The Adviser also given nod to the selection of System Integrator for Implementation of E-Governance Services for the City. By Implementation of E-Governance Services citizens will be able to access the various Municipal Services such as issuing of birth and death certificates, payment of property taxes, electricity-water bill payment, approval of building plans etc. through a mobile application as well as online through web portal. In all 28 services including Online Building Plan Approval System will be implemented under this project. This work is expected to be completed in 12 Months time period at the total cost of Rs. 11.50 Crores by the lowest bidder M/s PricewaterHouse Cooper Private Limited.

            The Board also cleared the award of project of Underground Utility Mapping in Chandigarh. The work will be carried out at an approx. amount of 6 Crores in a time limit of 6 Months. All the underground utilities viz water supply pipelines, sewage network, OFC network etc. will be mapped using latest GPR technologies which will be helpful in any future planning of the city as the exact location of the utility services will be known for preparing designing etc.

            Apart from the above, the Board of Directors of CSCL have cleared the project of Implementation of SCADA System for Recycled Water Distribution Network, Implementation of Smart Class Rooms and improvement of Basic Infrastructure in 4 Schools of the Chandigarh City on pilot basis. The 90 class rooms of the Govt. Schools located in Sector-22, 35 & 43 will be provided with interactive boards, projectors, smart class room lighting, fire alarms etc. for giving the latest infrastructure and the updated study material to the students. The work of upgradation to smart class rooms will be completed in about 6 Months time period at the cost of Rs. 4.80 Crores and the related civil infrastructure of school building will be upgraded at the cost of Rs. 53 Lakhs.

            The Board has also cleared the draft DPR of 24X7 Water Supply (PAN City) costing Rs. 440 Crores and the same has been submitted to Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) for financing of the project from the French development agency, AFD (Agence Francaise de Development). By implementing this project of 24X7 Water Supply, residents of the city will be able to get non contaminated continuous water supply without any drop in pressure.

            The Chairman has also given directions to the officers present to complete the tendering process of the remaining projects under Smart City Mission, so that the projects be implemented and executed at the earliest. STM Program for NTU and PU students commences at PU

Chandigarh:

The delegation of students from Nottingham Trent University, UK are visiting Panjab University for a 10 day Short Term Mobility (STM) Program being organised by the Dean International Students, Panjab University in collaboration with ISSER, PU.


        The delegation today interacted with Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, PU. Prof Kumar who had recently visited NTU Campus  remarked that  he is quite impressed with the activities of NTU students and would like to open doors of PU to more such participants from UK in times to come so that theyare also acquainted with rich and vibrant heritage of our country and our PU campus.


        These students are from diverse academic backgrounds like Banking, Law, Finance, Fashion  Technology and belong to different nationalities like British, African and Indian. The ten day program will focus on India and specially Punjab and its art, culture, heritage besides sessions on Role of Media, Democracy, Governance, Innovation, Technology and Social work.  In today’s globalized world such interactions are being a significant part of the learning process.


        The first day of the program started with a session on ‘The Story of Indian Democracy’ by Mr. Vikram Singh, Deputy Secretary, Controller of Administration, CSIR, IMTECH, which was followed by a session on Role of Media in Indian Democracy by Mr. Jyoti Kamal, Cluster Head and Executive Editor, CNN News18.Thereafter, the students were taken for a visit to City NGO ALA.

Centre for Human Rights and Duties Organized Sports Meet -2019 for Differenly abled Children on the theme “Sankalp Samavesh Ka”

Chandigarh September 17, 2019

 The Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a Sports Meet, here today on the theme ‘Sankalp Samaavesh Ka’ (A Pledge for Inclusion).

            Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University encouraged the students with special needs. He said that God gives special talent to such children. It is upon the parents to identify
that talent. Laying emphasis on the responsibility of the society towards children with special needs, he said that the society should provide opportunities to such children so that they may become a part of the society. He also assured the parents that University would render all the help for all such events organized in future as well.

            Dr Namita Gupta, Chairperson of the Centre stated that the purpose of the event was to motivate differently abled children to be part of the mainstream society and to sensitize the students of the university towards the needs of the differently-abled children.

            Around 200 students including differently abled children from various schools and NGOs such as Ashadeep, Discover Ability and GRIID participated in the event. Various games such as 4×50 metre
relay, three leg race, sack race, 50 meter race, 100 metre race and spoon lemon race were played by differently abled children along with the student volunteers of the Centre for Human Rights. The names of children with Intellectual disabilities who won in various games were: Lakhvir, Omprakash, Bulbul and Jyoti in spoon and lemon race; Vickey and Akshay in 50 meters race; Bhawana, Anmol, Manpreet, Raman in 3 leg race; Abhishek Kohli, Tanveer, Tushar, Nitin, Jatin, Harman and Tejinder in Men relay race; Anshika, Ranju, Hemant, Ananya, Kalpana and Purva in Women relay race.

            Other guests that encouraged the students with their presence were Dr. Parminder Singh, Director Sports; Dr. Rakesh Malik, Deputy Director, Sports; Dr. Neeru Malik, PU Fellow and  Assistant
Professor, Dev Samaj College, Sector 26, Chandigarh; Prof Rakesh Mohindra, Deptt of Laws; Dr Parveen Goyal, UIET; Ms. Sheetal Negi, Coach, Special Olympic (GRIID); Mr. Harmanjeet Gill, Coach, Special Olympic, (Discover Ability, Mohali) and Jagwinder Singh, well known Para Cyclist.

            Mr Vikram Nayyar, Finance and Development Officer and officiating Registrar, Panjab University, Prof. Emanual Nahar, Dean Student Welfare (DSW) and Prof Neena Kaplash, DSW (W) awarded the winners with medals and certificates.

            The event was a success with the participation of student volunteers from Centre for Human Rights and Duties, other departments of Panjab University, and volunteers of Dev Samaj College, Sector 26, Chandigarh. MCC hosts first citizen engagement session & Webinar to discuss MCC issues

Chandigarh, September 17:- TheMunicipal Corporation Chandigarh and Chandigarh Smart City Limited organized two citizen engagement sessions i.e. “Sujhaav Camp” and “Webinar” back to back today at the conference hall, MCC building, Sector 17, Chandigarh

The sessions was chaired by Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, MCC-cum-CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. and attended by representatives of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal and Market Welfare Associations and representatives from FICCI, CII, Institute of Town Planners, Chitkara University, Institution of Engineers, Le Corbusier Centre, Chandigarh College of Architecture, PGIMER, CRIKC, SPIC etc.

The “Sujhaav Camp” has been conducted first time in MCC as part of its new initiatives to invite feedback, inputs, solutions and ideas for sustainable remedies for better life style in the city beautiful.

Similarly, round table session for the leaders of industry groups and premier research institutes in the city was organized and the session has been broadcasted live on YouTube on youtu.be/Ms0RICgFgPo. Suggestions were invited on how to improve the cleanliness of the city, ideas on Plastic Free Movement, better Water Management, Fit India Movement and other solutions for making Chandigarh “Smart City” through this Webinar.

During the Sujhaav camp the representatives of Market Welfare Associations apprised about the problems related to the Municipal Corporation i.e. Sewerage line blockage; Cleanliness of Public Toilets; Horticulture waste disposal; road gullies blockages; malba scattred on the road side and open areas throughout city etc. The representatives of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal apprised and demanded that Monday morning more vehicles be deployed to lift garbage from the SSKs; Marshals be nominated in each sector/market to keep watch on sanitation and littering and garbage problems in the areas; coordination with the Chandigarh Administration for properly maintaining the open spaces and their cleaning; illegal rehri-pharis be removed from the market areas and road berms and SSKs be cleaned on daily basis andong with daily removal of horticulture waste.

The Commissioner asked the concerned engineers to look into the problems on ground level and explore short time solutions to the problems and prepare proposals for the long time measures to be taken alongwith expenditure involved in it. He also directed to the concerned officers to remove horticulture waste, C&D waste and garbage throughout city within 5 days period.

The Commissioner said that these type of citizen engagement sessions with the stakeholders will be conducted on regular basis.

MCC removed 72 unregistered vendors from city

Chandigarh, September 17:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has carried out a anti encroachment drive today in various parts of city to remove unregistered vendors from market areas as well as from road sides.

The enforcement team of MCC carried out drives in different parts of city and removed unregistered vendors including rehri pharis and food carts, cloth and shoe sellers etc. and challaned 72 violators. The team seized their articles and items, which were sent to the enforcement store.

MCC to organize Kirtan Samagams to commemorate 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Chandigarh, September 17: – The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is going to organize Kirtan Samagams to commemorate 550th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji from October 2019.

This was decided in a meeting of the implementation committee constituted for planning the activities of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Hardeep Singh, Senior Deputy Mayor and attended by other members of the committee namely Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh, Maj. Gen. M.S. Kandal, Smt. Ravinder Kaur Gujral and other concerned officers of MCC.

The committee discussed and decided that as a part of celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, MCC will organize Kirtan Smagams throughout the city in four zones i.e. Khudda Ali Sher, Manimajra, Sector 51 and Sector 41, Chandigarh. The members also decided that a big programme will be organize at Sector 34 by involving all Gurudwara committees of the city.

The committee members discussed and decided that a light & sound show on the life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji will be organize in Leisure Valley during mid of October. The committee decided that commutative items like wall frames of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, Thought of the day table calendars, mementoes will be manufactured for distribution in different events.

Weekly Ward Level Meeting of MCC held

Chandigarh, September 17:- The weekly ward level meeting of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor of Chandigarh which was attended by councilors namely Smt. Heera Negi, Smt. Ravinder Kaur Gujral, Smt. Aasha Kumari Jaswal, Sh. Devender Singh Babla and Sh. Dalip Sharma of Ward No. 13, 15, 17, 18 and 19 respectively.

During the meeting, Sh. Manoj Kumar Bansal, Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and other concerned officers were present. During the meeting different following issues of ward wise discussed in detail:

Ward-13

·        Provision of Sound proofing of Hall and repair of gym in the Community Centre sector 49.

·        Leftout development works of Green belt in sector 49 C&D.

·        Jogging track near advocate society, sector 49 be checked and repaired as per requirement.

·        Temporary passage in sector 63 be closed by proper fencing.

·        Repair work of V-5 road in sector 49 with patch work etc.

·        Provision of toilet block in green belt, sector 49.

·        Special anti encroachment drives to check unregistered street venders in sector 49.

·        Grass cutting of parks and road berms be ensured in all the areas of ward 13.

Ward-15

·        Sewerage blockages be checked and cleared in sector 35 C&D.

·        Sewerage problem be checked in Market, Sector 34.

·        Renovation of community centre sector 35.

·        Provision of TT water supply line in sector 35.

·        High mast light be provided in the required area of Parks in sector 35.

·        Proper sanitation be maintained in and around parks and market areas in sector 35.

·        Illegal Encroachments be removed from market areas.

Ward-17

·        PCC tile work be completed in leftout area at park in sector 21.

·        Backlanes of houses in sector 21 be cleaned and special drive be initiated to lift C&D waste from the backlanes.

·        Sound proofing of hall in community centre, sector 18.

·        Proper upkeep of neighbourhood parks in sector 18 & 19.

·        Toilet blocks in markets, especially in sector 19 be maintained properly.

·        Toilet block be provided in sector 18 near post office.

·        Water connection be made functional in SSKs in sector 18 & 19.

·        Dark spots in the ward No. 17 be checked and status report be put up.

·        Sewerage blockage problem in cheap houses at sector 19 be checked and resolved at the earliest.

Ward-18

·        Early removal of C&D waste lying in the back lanes of sector 28.

·        High mast light be provided in the required area of Parks.

·        Illegal Encroachments be removed from market areas of sector 27 & 28.

·        Repair work required at backlane in sector 27.

·        Road side of V-6 road in sector 27 be repaired.

Ward-19

·        Repair work of roads in the ward be taken up.

·        Sewerage lines be cleaned properly and provision of road gullies.

·        Encroachments be removed from the ward.

·        C&D waste at open spaces be lifted immediately.

·        Water supply pressure be raised in the colonies.

·        Toilet block be repaired near the market places.

MCC conducts Plastic Free City awareness programme at SGGSC, Sector 26

Chandigarh, September 17:- The IEC team of MCC organised an event under “Plastic Free City” campaign in Shri Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector – 26, Chandigarh today. The team engaged students in various activities like debate, skit and interaction session to aware them against the use of plastics. Also a nukkar natak was held to encourage them to substitute the plastic bags with traditional cloth bags. T-shirts and cloth bags were distributed to the students who actively participated in the event.

Road Closed

Chandigarh, September 17: – The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is going to start recarpeting of Vigyan Path Sector 5 & 8, and V-4 Road Sector 23-24, Chandigarh. Due to this recarpeting work during the period from 18th September to 30th September 2019, the roads would be remain closed and general public is requested to take alternate route and bear with Municipal Corporation.

Mayor starts tree plantation drive at Kikker park, Sector 50

Chandigarh, September 17:- Sh. Rajesh Kumar, Mayor of Chandigarh today started tree plantation drive at Kikker park, Sector 50, Chandigarh here today in the presence of Smt. Heera Negi, area councilor and office bearers of various societies i.e. SBI, Verka, LB, CHB, Pink Rose, Progressive, Papsu, BJ, Banker and RWAs of Sector 63.

During the drive, various fruit bearing trees were planted including Mango, Lichi, Promogranite, Gauva, Jamun etc. Sh. V.K. Bali, Chirag Aggarwal, Rajni, Yogita, Avilash, Jagdish Kumar, Virender Saini, Baljinder, S P Joshi, Mr. Chhatwal, Amit Gupta, Veena Nanda, Meena, Yashpal, Arun Bhalla, Mr. Mahajan, Anil Nanhe Ram, Bhupinder Sharma and Umanand Bhadula were present during the tree plantation drive.
