Sector-15/11 UNDERPASS to GET a NEW MAKEOVER
ROOFS of OLD BOOKS MARKET Sector-15 to be REPLACED
Chandigarh, September 9
Works of remodeling and beautification of neglected underpass joining Sector-15 and 11 was kick started today in the presence of Area Councillor Saurabh Joshi.
This underpass joining Sector 15 and 11 was the first underpass designed and built by Le Corbusier while carving out the plan of city Chandigarh. Since then this underpass has never been made beautiful. It has been mended and painted but had been devoid of any ornamentation.
But now, a vertical garden will be put up at the entry of the underpass. Also the footpath around it will be thoroughly repaired and painted. Kota stone flooring and glass mosaic tiles will uplift the face of the underpass.
The councillor of the area, Saurabh Joshi said, “this underpass has been frequently used but totally ignored. Every nook and corner of our city should look neat and beautiful, so why ignore this historic underpass !!”
Also, the Book shops of Old Book Market will have new roofs !!
The old and damaged fibre sheets of these shops will be replaced by corrugated G.S sheet roofing. Saurabh Joshi, in his first term as councillor (2011-2016), has gifted this new Old Books Market to the shopkeepers.
The members of Old Book Market Association, Sandeep Kanojia, Suresh Kumar,Shri Niwas, , Rajesh Rohilla, Sachin Kanojia, Mainudeen, Amarjeet Singh, , Gagandeep Singh, Tejpal Sharma and others thanked Saurabh Joshi for never forgetting about their well being and of their Market.
