Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attended a special event in Kurukshetra held to honour the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Guru of the Sikh tradition.
At the venue, the Prime Minister viewed a series of cultural performances, including a sand art sequence portraying significant episodes from the life and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He is also scheduled to address attendees and unveil a commemorative coin along with a special postal stamp dedicated to this historic occasion.
Before joining the programme, the Prime Minister inaugurated ‘Panchjanya’, a structure created as a tribute to the sacred conch associated with Lord Krishna. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini accompanied him during this visit. The Prime Minister further explored the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an immersive exhibition that brings scenes and stories from the Mahabharata to life through artistic installations.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, remembered as “Hind Di Chadar,” made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold religious freedom and safeguard humanity. His profound teachings and the 115 hymns enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib continue to guide and inspire people across the world.
The Prime Minister arrived in Kurukshetra after attending a ceremony earlier in Ayodhya, where he hoisted the saffron Dharma Dhwaj atop the shikhar of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. Embellished with sacred symbols such as Om, the Sun and the Kovidara tree, the flag represents enduring values of the Sanatan tradition.
Addressing the ceremony in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister noted that the installation of the Dharma Dhwaj marks the fulfilment of a cultural commitment cherished for centuries.
