For Detailed

*Chandigarh, June 18:-* A “Plastic Mukt Chandigarh” campaign was organized today by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in collaboration with NGO “I HATE POLYTHENE” and the Market Welfare Associations of Sector 31-C and Sector 15.

The main aim of the campaign was to make people aware of the harmful effects of using polythene bags.

Shoppers and shopkeepers were encouraged to stop using plastic and switch to compostable (eco-friendly) bags for the safety of the environment.

During the campaign, MC Joint Commissioner Sh. Himanshu Gupta, NGO members, and market representatives spoke to the public, shared information, and motivated everyone to make better choices for the environment.

An oath was also taken by all present – including shopkeepers, customers, and officials – promising not to use plastic bags in the future.

This campaign is a part of MCC’s ongoing efforts to make Chandigarh a clean, green, and plastic-free city. Similar drives will be held in other parts of the city soon.
