National Award in Volunteerism category to Ms. Jashanjot Kaur Brar, Ph.D Scholar at Centre for Social Work, Panjab University.
The Citizen summit and Noble Citizen Awards were held at Hansraj College, University of Delhi recently. This impactful event witnessed the convergence of over hundreds enthusiastic Delhi University students, 50 NGOs, and social sector leaders, along with the presence of 7 CSR Heads from renowned companies.
The Citizen Summit, organized to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to various societal causes, featured 13 categories, ranging from education and CSR to sports, innovation for social impact, and more. Among the standout moments was the selection of “Ms. Jashanjot Kaur Brar” in the “Volunteerism category”. After rigorous evaluation by a distinguished jury, Brar emerged as the sole recipient of this esteemed recognition, outshining nominees from five countries. The number of applicants were in hundreds.
Pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy at Panjab University, Brar focuses on Community Participation in Water and Sanitation Management in District Patiala, Punjab State in the Supervisionof Dr Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work. She has been engaged in academic discourse, she has presented over fifteen research papers at International and national conferences, covering essential topics such as climate change, water governance, and community health. With three publications under her belt, she demonstrates a profound understanding of critical issues and a commitment to sharing knowledge for societal betterment shared Gaurav Gaur.
In her previous role as a Community Development Specialist at the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation Punjab, Brar played a pivotal role in implementing crucial missions like Jal Jeevan and Swachh Bharat across 350 villages. Her expertise extends to roles as a Rural Development & Management Specialist and Resource Person, showcasing her ability to coordinate and execute initiatives effectively said Gaurav Gaur.
Brar, a UGC NET cleared individual and a certified master trainer at the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in Hyderabad, has also made impactful contributions as a resource person at the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayats, Govt. of Punjab.
