MoU between PU & Chandigarh Police

Memorandum of Understanding between Panjab University, Chandigarh and Chandigarh Police has been signed on the occasion of an interactive session on Science of Yoga in Stress Management at PU, here today. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, P.U. and Sh. Sanjay Baniwal (IPS), Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh signed the MOU in the presence of Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh who was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Chancellor, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana, Bangalore also graced the occasion. H.R. Nagendra is a personal yoga consultant of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and is a recipient of Padma Shri as well as Yoga Shri title from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
The main objective of this MoU is to enhance R&D and training activities as well as to strengthen the law enforcement and cyber security between both. PU as well as Chandigarh Police is now recognizing the importance of research and development and training in the areas related to Cyber Security, Cyber Intelligence, Forensic
Sciences, Human Rights and other allied areas, and facilitate innovation and deployment of solutions. Through this MoU both will amalgamate their efforts by pooling their expertise and resources and to form a nucleus for promoting Research & Development and training by exploiting the expertise, intellectual and infrastructural
capabilities of both the parties and hence foster relationship between academia and law enforcement.This will ultimately strengthen the criminal justice system.Training will also be imparted in Forensics, Cyber Security and Human Rights to the Police personnel as well as some short term training/refresher courses to the Police manpower
across various ranks in these areas will also be identified.
Chandigarh Police can now collaborate on the possible conceptual input related to the Forensic evidence and their
Examination of case work.Based on the problems related to cyber security and applied forensics, research projects and joint proposals will also be submitted to the funding agencies. Exchange of research documents/findings on a case to case basis will also be possible.Some training components may be digitized and provided in the form of
online modules.Sharing of laboratory, library and other such resources on availability for bilateral applications without any financial burden on either party will be done. Under this MOU possibilities of provision of seats for serving Police Personnel in the academic courses related to their need will be identified in the concerned
departments.Duty leave of police personnel for pursuing these degree programmes will be given.Visits of police personnel and staff, faculty, scientists and students to each other’s workplace and laboratories will also be possible.
