MCC to organize National Conference on Prevention of Rabies & Stray Dog Management on Sept. 28

Chandigarh, September 26:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is going to organize a one day National Conference on Prevention of Rabies and Stray Dog Management at Hotel Mountview, sector 10 on 28th September, 2019.

While sharing about this initiative during Press Conference at UT Guest House here today, Sh. Sanjay Kumar Jha, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh said that Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh will inaugurate the Conference at 11.00 am. He said that this will be a first of its kind National Conference on this sensitive public concern.

He said that motive behind organizing the conference is to evolve means to manage stray dog population and safeguard the public from the disease within the framework of humane approach.

He said that the speakers during the conference are experts in their field, working on latest developments and improvements on rabies prevention as well as stray dog management aspects. They have been at decision making positions and are involved with latest developments in this field. This interaction is certainly going to give a boost to reduce man and dog conflict through presentations in the conference by these experts and later implementation at not only city beautiful Chandigarh but at National level. This will give long time solutions in curtailing rabies incidents in dogs and thereby safeguarding the human population from the deadly disease, he said.

Sh. Jha said that the interaction and communication with the experts in this field will highlight the public concerns and their solutions. The measures suggested when implemented will surely resolve the scare of dog bites and rabies. Any suitable measures emerging out of the conference will be implemented in its true spirit to make the city residents more comfortable and simultaneously taking care of the dogs in a compassionate manner which is known to be man’s best friend since ages.

He further said that the conference has been planned of National importance. The resource persons are coming from Banglore, Chennai, Delhi, Ludhiana, Izatnagar and Delhi. The delegates/participants will be approximately 200 in number and this comprises of local representatives of Resident Welfare Association, Beopar Mandal representatives, local NGOs as well from other state/UTs, Medical and veterinary fraternity from states and UTs will be participating in this full day conference.

Sh. Tilak Raj & Sh. S.K. Jain, Additional Commissioners, Sh. Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director, Animal Husbandry, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Manoj Bansal, Chief Engineer, Municipal Corporation and other concerned officers of UT Administration and MCC were present during the Press Conference.
