*Chandigarh, July 4:-* The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has issued a challan to Punjab National Bank (PNB), Sector 17, for littering in a public area. The challan, issued under the Solid Waste Management Rules, was prompted after the MCC challaning team discovered a heap of garbage in an open space containing multiple bank slips clearly identifying PNB as the source.

Acting promptly, the MCC team thoroughly inspected the dumped waste and retrieved slips belonging to the concerned bank, thereby confirming the origin of the litter. In line with the city’s cleanliness norms and the guidelines of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the bank was penalized of Rs. 13,500 for improper disposal of waste.

MCC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, has strongly warned all commercial and institutional establishments alongwith city residents to strictly adhere to solid waste management rules. He emphasized that any form of littering or violation of cleanliness norms in public spaces will invite strict action. The Commissioner reiterated the civic body’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness across Chandigarh and urged all citizens and organizations to act responsibly.
