MCC honours its courageous fire fighters for going above & beyond the call of duty*
*Saved more than 400 patients and property worth crores, at PGIMER on October 10 fire incident*
*Chandigarh, October 13:-* Honouring its courageous fire fighters for going above and beyond the call of duty, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today felicitated the exemplary dedication and valor displayed by them during a major fire and rescue operation at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on October 10, 2023.
City Mayor Sh. Anup Gupta and Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Sh Gurinder Sodhi PCS honored 66 firemen at a felicitation programme held at community centre, sector 21, here today.
While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the heroic efforts of these daredevil fire-figters, who risked their lives in the face of grave danger, deserves highest commendation. Their unwavering commitment to saving lives and property showcases the selfless dedication that is the hallmark of the firefighting and rescue personnel.
He said that the incident at PGIMER was a critical one, where the lives of numerous patients were at stake. The Fire Officer and Fire Crew members exhibited unparalleled courage and determination, going above and beyond the call of duty. Their swift and efficient response played a pivotal role in containing the fire and ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and the valuable medical infrastructure.
