*MCC Apni Mandi & Day Market committee clears allotment plan, cancels Sector 37 Day Market*
*Chandigarh, July 11:-* The Apni Mandi & Day Market Committee of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh convened today under the chairmanship of Sh. Lakhbir Singh, with the participation of members Sh. Manoj Sonkar, Sh. Harjeet Singh, Sh. Yogesh Dhingra, Sh. Manaur, Sh. Naresh Panchal, and concerned MCC officers.
In the meeting, two significant market-related proposals were discussed and approved:
• Allotment of Day Market Sites through Draw of Lots
The Committee approved a public notice inviting applications for the allotment of Day Market sites across Zones A, B, C, D & E. This decision follows the General House resolution dated June 3, 2025, which revised the terms, conditions, and rates of Day Market sites. The allotment will be carried out through a transparent draw of lots.
• Cancellation of Day Market Site in Sector 37
Based on field reports and public feedback, the Committee also approved the cancellation of the non-functional Day Market site in Sector 37. The decision was taken due to the site’s inability to become operational because of a lack of parking space, its small size, and overlap with existing Sunday markets in neighboring sectors.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the efficient management of Day Markets in Chandigarh while prioritizing public convenience and optimizing urban spaces.
