*Chandigarh, October 29:-* Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards encroachments, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, issued strict directions to all concerned officers up to the level of Chief Engineer to ensure complete removal of encroachments from MC land within their respective jurisdictions.

During a review meeting held today, the Commissioner emphasized that every officer shall furnish a certificate confirming the status of encroachment removal by 15th November 2025, and thereafter, such certification shall be submitted on the 15th of every month without fail.

Sh. Amit Kumar directed that any temporary encroachment detected on MC land must be cleared within seven days, while cases of permanent encroachment shall be reported immediately to higher authorities for necessary action and removal after obtaining approval from the competent authority.

The Commissioner further instructed the concerned area JE/SDE/XEN (Roads) to conduct a detailed field inspection of Sector 25, Janta Colony, Chandigarh, and submit a comprehensive report identifying MC-owned land and highlighting any instances of encroachment. They have also been tasked with preparing an action plan for fencing MC land and detailing its proposed land use to prevent future encroachments.

The Commissioner further stressed that accountability shall be fixed on officers failing to comply with these directions. The Municipal Corporation is committed to protecting public land and ensuring its planned and transparent utilization for the benefit of citizens, he added.
