A special symbolic kite dedicated to the pride of the city, Safaimitras, was also part of the event. It was hand-painted by the SHGs. This gesture recognized the invaluable contribution of Safaimitras in keeping the city clean and highlighted their role in maintaining the cleanliness of Chandigarh.

MX Kajal Mangalmukhi, Brand Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Mission, also graced the occasion and celebrated Swachh Basant Utsav while spreading the message of Swachhata.

Through various initiatives, MC Chandigarh strives to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, Community engagement and sustainable practices in the city.

To infuse additional excitement into the “Swachh Basant Utsav” celebration, MC Chandigarh organized two competitions – kite flying and mehndi. These competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from MC officers, employees, Safaimitras and SHG’s group, showcasing their commitment to cleanliness and environmental consciousness.

Each kite that soared into the sky bore a Swachhata Message, emphasizing the importance of source segregation, avoiding littering, reducing plastic usage, and adopting home composting. The use of eco-friendly kite strings further highlighted the event’s focus on sustainable practices and the ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ (RRR) principle.

Employing a zero-waste approach, the event underscored the crucial importance of sustainability. It aimed to inspire citizens to embrace cleanliness and environmentally conscious practices for the betterment of the community and the environment as a whole. The event also featured kite-shaped floral topiaries, adding to its visual appeal.

Incorporating the spirit of peace, prosperity, and positive energy, the event radiated the ‘yellow color’ element throughout the decor and attire, setting a vibrant and cheerful ambiance. The yellow color symbolizes hope, optimism, and the desire for a brighter and cleaner future.

MC Chandigarh takes pride in orchestrating the “Swachh Basant Utsav” and pledges to continue fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for all citizens. By organizing such events, MC Chandigarh aims to create awareness and encourage active participation in the journey towards a cleaner and environmentally responsible Chandigarh.
