Panchkula, July 22 – Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Haryana Sh. D.S. Dheshi on Saturday released the book titled ‘Jind Anta- Stories of Sixties’ authored by Sh. Rajbir Deswal, IPS (Retd.) at GOs mess, Police Complex, Moginand.

This is his 22nd book which has been authored by Mr. Deswal in the last few years.

On this occasion, several literary personalities, authors, and poets from the region graced the release ceremony of Deswal’s book, including Ex. MLA and uncles of the author Jasbir Deswal, Justice (Retd.) Nawab Singh, former IAS officers Sh. S.S. Parsad and Sh. Vivek Atray, former IPS Sh. K. Selvaraj, Justice Nawab Singh, Col. D.S. Cheema, Lily Swarn, Sonika Sethi. 

Congratulating Sh. Deswal, the Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister said that ‘Jind Anta- Stories of Sixties’ would prove to be important, as it traces the history of Jind town culturally and socially.  The book will also make the readers aware of “Jind – a town that slept soundly” as Deswal puts it. He also lauded Deswal’s contribution to the world of literature.

*About the Author*

A former cop, writer, singer, musician, photographer, and advocate, Rajbir Deswal wears many hats with a rare elan. The former Additional Director-General of Police is working on another book “Tea Bags“. 

Advocate Sagar Deswal proposed a vote of thanks on this occasion. 

*About the Book*

The present book “JIND-ANTA: Stories of Sixties“ is a nostalgic recall of the boyhood I spent in my village and the small town of Jind. Although a little bio autobiographical sketch, the document talks more about the prevailing cultural, social, familial, milieu or the zeitgeist of the time gone by.  The book documents practises, traditions, customs, dressing styles, entertainment and other aspects of an unassuming lifestyle known to be simplistic and bucolic . It has two parts : part one deals with the atmosphere prevailing in a village called Anta in all its earthiness; and  the second part deals with David Copperfield-like experiences of a growing up lad who seemed to be a favorite of everyone around in that mofussil town. The tag lines describing the mofussil town of Jind says – a town that slept soundly; and the tagline which describes the pristine and sylvan surroundings in the countryside in the Village Anta as – the moon at times rested here. This is Rajbir Deswal‘s 22nd book including eight books on poetry in three languages—Hindi, English and Urdu. Rajbir Deswal’s Middles are lapped up by the readers very frequently and he after his retirement from the Indian police service practices law at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh.

आयुक्त हिसार मंडल गीता भारती ने कहा कि घग्घर नदी में अधिक पानी से उत्पन्न हुई बाढ़ की स्थिति को प्रशासन की सतर्कता व लोगों के सहयोग से नियंत्रण करने में सफल हुए हैं। फिलहाल अब हालात पूरी तरह से कंट्रोल में है। जहां प्रशासन के अधिकारियों व कर्मचारियों ने फील्ड में रहकर दिन-रात मेहनत की, वहीं ग्रामीणों ने भी प्रशासन के साथ कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर बाढ़ बचाव व राहत कार्यों में पूरा सहयोग किया। मिल-जुलकर काम करने का ही नतीजा रहा कि एक बड़ी प्राकृतिक आपदा से बचाव संभव हो पाया। एहतियात के तौर पर अभी घग्घर की मॉनीटरिंग निरंतर रखी जाए।
आयुक्त गीता भारती शुक्रवार को सिरसा के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों का दौरा कर बाढ़ की स्थिति, बाढ़ नियंत्रण व बचाव प्रबंधों के लिए किए गए उपायों का निरीक्षण कर रही थी। उन्होंने घग्घर नदी के साथ लगते गांव मीरपुर के पास घग्गर नदी पर बनाएं तटबंधों का जायजा लिया और उपस्थित ग्रामीणों से भी बातचीत करते हुए पानी की स्थिति व प्रशासन की ओर से दिए गए सहयोग के बारे में जानकारी ली। उन्होंने तटबंधों की निगरानी, बिजली व अन्य व्यवस्थाओं का भी निरीक्षण किया। इसके बाद उन्होंने गांव अहमदपुर, झोरडऩाली व ओटू झील में घग्घर नदी मेें पानी के फ्लो का निरीक्षण भी किया। इस अवसर पर उपायुक्त पार्थ गुप्ता, पुलिस अधीक्षक उदय सिंह मीणा, सिंचाई विभाग के एसई आत्मा राम भांभू, कार्यकारी अधिकारी अजीत हुडडा, डीआरओ सुरेश कुमार, डीडीपीओ राजेश कुमार सहित संबंधित अधिकारी थै।

ओटू हैड पर जल स्तर के डिस्चार्ज की जानकारी ली :

आयुक्त गीता भारती ने ओटू हेड पहुंचकर घग्घर नदी में जल स्तर का जायजा लिया। उन्होंने अधिकारियों से पानी के स्तर व डिस्चार्ज तथा पीछे से आने वाले पानी की स्थिति बारे भी रिपोर्ट ली। उपायुक्त ने जानकारी दी कि अब स्थिति कंट्रोल में है, अब पानी के कम होने की संभावना है। घग्घर नदी में तटबंधों को निरंतर मजबूत किया गया तथा लीकेज की सूचना पर तुरंत कार्यवाही कर उसे पाटने का काम किया गया। इसके लिए गांवों में पहले से ही ट्रैक्टर-ट्रालियां मिटï्ïटी से भरकर रखी गई तथा मिट्ïटी से भरे कट्ïटे उपलब्ध रखे गए। लीकेज की सूचना पर तुरंत मिट्ïटी पहुंचाई गई और सभी के सहयोग से हर स्थिति पर नियंत्रण पाया जाना संभव हो पाया। इससे पहले उन्होंने गांव सिंकदरपुर के पास बाईपास पर फतेहाबाद की ओर से आने वाले पानी को रोकने के लिए किए जा रहे प्रबंधों व पानी की स्थिति का निरीक्षण किया। इस अवसर पर उपायुक्त पार्थ गुप्ता ने पानी के आने व शहर को बचाने के लिए किए गए प्रबंधों व व्यवस्थाओं के बारे विस्तार से जानकारी दी। उन्होंने रंगोई ड्रेन के पास तटबंध की मजबूती के लिए किए जा रहे कार्यों का भी निरीक्षण किया।

 टीम भावना से किए गए कार्यों के कारण ही स्थिति रही नियंत्रण में :

  गीता भारती ने कहा कि इतनी बड़ी आपदा में आपसी सहयोग की बड़ी आवश्यकता रहती है और यहां के लोगों ने इसे बखूबी निभाया है। इसके साथ ही प्रशासन ने जिस प्रकार फील्ड में तत्पर रहकर दिन-रात मेहनत की है, उससे लोगों का भी हौसला बढ़ा। कोई भी आपदा हो, उसमें सब बातों से ऊपर उठकर इंसानियत की भावना से एकजुट काम करने की जरुरत होती है और यहां के लोगों ने आगे बढ़कर इंसानियत का बेहतरीन परिचय दिया। प्रशासन ने भी घग्घर पर तटबंधों की मजबूती, मशीनरी, लाइट व्यवस्था, ठीकरी पहरा, तटबंधों की निगरानी, जेसेबी, ट्रेक्टर-ट्राली आदि की पुख्ता व्यवस्था की थी। उपायुक्त पार्थ गुप्ता व पुलिस अधीक्षक उदय सिंह मीणा अन्य प्रशासनिक अधिकारियों के साथ दिन-रात एक्टिव रहे। हर स्थिति पर नजर रखी। जरूरत पडऩे पर हर मौके पर पहुंचकर स्थिति पर काबू पाया। इस टीम भावना से किए गए कार्यों के कारण ही बाढ़ की स्थिति नियंत्रण में है।

Haryana Assembly Speaker addresses public grievances during Janata Darbar*

Panchkula, July 21 – Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Mr. Gian Chand Gupta, conducted a Janata Darbar at PWD Rest House, Sector-1, Panchkula, where he attentively listened to 117 collective and individual complaints and grievances raised by the residents of Panchkula Vidhan Sabha. 

The Janata Darbar, which lasted for about 4 hours, provided an opportunity for people to voice their concerns, and Mr. Gupta gave necessary direction to the concerned authorities for their prompt resolution.

In response to the public grievances, Mr. Gupta directed all officers of the district administration to take decisive action on the issues presented during the Janata Darbar within 15 days. He requested the officers to submit their progress reports to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Mr. Gupta said that he would personally follow up on the matters and review the status of complaints in the subsequent Janata Darbar after one month.

During the interactions, Mr. Gupta encouraged those affected by the recent natural calamity to submit written details of their losses to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He assured the public that Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal is providing special assistance for this purpose and that necessary support would be promptly extended.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Priyanka Soni, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Sachin Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Nikita Khattar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Varsha Khangwal, and other officials of the district administration. 

Mr. Gupta took immediate action in response to a complaint by a resident of village Matanwala regarding the uprooting of an electric pole causing danger to the citizens. He directed the concerned authorities to take necessary action against the SDO concerned. Additionally, he addressed complaints related to the issuance of Family Identity Cards, instructing officials to resolve them promptly.

Regarding a complaint about commercial activities taking place in a public parking lot in Mansa Devi Complex, Mr. Gupta emphasized that public parking spaces cannot be used for commercial purposes without permission. He directed the Police, Municipal Corporation, and Haryana Urban Development Authority to ensure compliance with all such norms in this direction. Responding to a complaint about the non-issuance of a caste certificate to a resident of Billa village, the Speaker directed the concerned department to take immediate action and issue the certificate within two days.

Addressing concerns about the connection of a hotel’s sewerage line with the domestic line in Sector 10 Panchkula, Mr. Gupta instructed HSVP officials to verify whether the hotels had installed the necessary ETP to prevent any inconvenience. Officers must ensure that all norms in this regard should be followed. 

Regarding the deteriorating condition of the Senior Citizen Club building in Sector 25, Mr. Gupta directed the Municipal Corporation officials to assess the structure and ensure its repair within 3 months.

Responding to media queries about the disruption caused by Congress Municipal Councilors during the Janata Darbar, Mr. Gupta said that public representatives should raise people’s issues in a civil manner, rather than using such forums for political gain. He emphasized that his primary objective in organizing the Janata Darbar was to alleviate the suffering of the public by addressing their concerns and building trust between the government, administration, and the people. Being they are also public representatives; all their grievances will be addressed properly. 

Mr. Gupta reiterated that the Janata Darbar serves as a platform to listen to people’s grievances and reduce their suffering. He instructed officers to patiently address the complaints and strive for effective problem-solving, fostering harmony between the people and the government, and strengthening people’s faith in the administration.

Chandigarh, July 21:- Aiming to provide affordable items to those in need while promoting the concept of reducing, reusing and recycling, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has started its fourth ‘One Ruppee Store’ at the Community Centre, Sundar Nagar, Mauli Jagran, here today.

City Mayor, Sh. Anup Gupta inaugurated the store in the evening in the presence of  Municipal Commissioner Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, the area councilor Smt. Bimla Dubey, other senior officials of MCC, and prominent members of the ward.

While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the MCC’s permanent RRR center in Sector 17 has received an overwhelming response from citizens, enabling the establishment of this store. The aim of this initiative is to provide affordable items to those in need while promoting the concept of reducing, reusing, and recycling. The store offers a variety of items such as books, electronics, clothing, crockery, kitchenware, toys, and bed sheets, all priced at just Rs. 1 per item.

He said that the Municipal Corporation has set up its permanent RRR center at New Bridge Market, near Jagat Cinema in Sector 17, where citizens are encouraged to donate items that are no longer in use to help those in need. He added that after cleaning, repairing, and refurbishing the donated items collected at the RRR center in Sector 17, the MCC is committed to organizing more such one-rupee stores in different areas/wards of the city.

Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, also expressed her gratitude to the citizens of tricity for their overwhelming response and support. She noted that this is the fourth successful one-rupee store, and the MCC is committed to serving the community by establishing more such stores throughout the city. The launch of this store is a testament to the MCC’s efforts towards creating sustainable and inclusive practices that benefit citizens from all walks of life. She said that the MCC is showing its commitment towards promoting sustainability and inclusivity with opening of these kind of stores in the colony areas of the city.

Digital Population Clock Inaugurated at PU

The Population Research Centre(PRC) Panjab University, Chandigarh installed a Population Clock at T Point Near USOL of the Panjab University Chandigarh.  The population clock installed will be one with dual population statistics display i.e it will display the population figures of India as well as the population figure of Chandigarh .

The digital population clock was inaugurated by Shri Banwari Lal Purohit Ji, Honorable Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh. Shri Purohit ji discussed the features of the population clock and its benefit for the younger generation. Shri S.R. Meena Director General (Stats) also highlighted the relevance of the population clock.

Prof Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh in her remarks discussed the setting up of population clock, the issues of population growth, the problems of small family norm and falling sex-ratios she congratulated the Population Research Centre for this achievement.

Shri Satya Pal Jain, ADG and former MP who was the guest of honor discussed the issues of population growth, development and size of population.

Other members present includes University officials, faculty members, fellow and students were also present on the occasion.

Prof. Kumool Abhi, Director, PRC informed that the Population Clock is funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India and total cost of installation of the population was Rs. 4,03,560.00.  

A digital population clock is an essential population data tool used to estimate real-time population size of a geographical/ administrative area based on scientific assumptions about birth, death and net migration rates. This clock will be of immense help in spreading awareness about various parameters of fertility, mortality and family planning among researchers, faculty members, students, young generations and the community at large.  Further the clock will help in enhancing the visibility of the Population Research Centre both within and outside the University campus.

Cleanliness Drive at Student Centre, PU, Chandigarh

The National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with the Dean Student Welfare organized the Cleanliness Drive at Student Centre, PU, Chandigarh. About 100 students, faculty members, DSE office staff and horticulture workers participated in the programme. The enthusiastic volunteers comprising dedicated students from various departments, came together to take part in this noble initiative. The primary objective was to promote a clean and hygienic environment and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness for the healthier community. During the drive the N.S.S. volunteer diligently cleaned the surrounding, collected and disposed of litter, demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare.

About 10 students from Enactus Panjab University team participated in this drive. Prof. Jitender Grover (DSW), Prof. Simrat Kahlon (DSW-Women) and Dr. Naresh Kumar (Associate DSW) encouraged the students and took part in this cleanliness drive. All wardens of the girls and boys hostels were also present.

Dr. Vivek Kumar, Chairperson, CMP and NSS PO and Dr. Simran Preet, NSS-PO also participated in the program and motivated the NSS volunteers. During the cleanliness drive, all the students were advised to dispose of waste properly, avoid littering, and maintain cleanliness in student centre, PU. This cleanliness drive is just one of the many initiatives undertaken by the NSS unit of Panjab University, Chandigarh as part of its commitment to community service and social upliftment.

Successful ABO incompatible kidney transplant conducted on a 48-year-old man suffering with chronic kidney and liver ailment at Fortis Mohali

Hoshiarpur, July 20, 2023: The Renal Sciences Department at Fortis Hospital Mohali has given a new lease of life to a 48-year-old Hoshiarpur-based man via a kidney transplant conducted in May this year. The case assumes significance as the Patient’s Blood Group was O and the donor’s Blood Group was A, yet the kidney transplant was conducted successfully.

The Patient was suffering from Type 2 Diabetes, Chronic Liver Disease (CKD) and his left side of the body was paralysed since the past 1 year. He had been experiencing swelling in his legs, foamy urine, breathlessness and subsequently underwent a medical examination at a Hoshiarpur-based hospital in February last. The Patient was diagnosed with CKD and put on hemodialysis (filtering waste and water from the blood) twice a week. However, after his symptoms failed to subside and the dialysis schedule hampered his quality of life, he consulted Dr Anna Gupta, Associate Consultant, Renal Sciences and Kidney Transplant, at Fortis Hospital Mohali.

As the Patient had Blood Group O, his sister with the same blood group was evaluated as the donor first. However, she was rejected as she was diagnosed with diabetes and had a protein leak in the urine. The Patient’s wife with Blood Group A was finally accepted as the donor as no other legitimate match could be found in the family.  The Kidney Transplant Surgery team comprising Dr Gupta and Dr Sunil Kumar, Senior Consultant and Kidney Transplant Surgeon conducted a successful kidney transplant surgery on the Patient in May this year.

Contrary to the transplant with the same blood group, the Patient was made to undergo de-sensitization (removing antibodies from blood). He was successfully discharged seven days after the surgery with the serum creatinine of 1.3 mg/dl and no complications. He has recovered fully and leading a normal life today. The donor was also discharged on the 4th post-operative day with no complications.

Stating that CKD was a rising health ailment in India, Dr Gupta, added, “Screening diabetic patients and hypertensive ones is the key. Those CKD patients who have legitimate donor in family but the blood group is different should not lose hope. With the current advances in Organ Transplant sciences, ABO incompatible kidney transplants can be performed with a success rate of around 90%.

On what constitutes a successful kidney transplant programme, Dr Gupta, added, “A kidney transplant programme requires careful pre-operative selection of the kidney transplant donor, expertise in kidney transplant surgery, advanced level of post-operative care as well as a dedicated team of transplant surgeons and transplant nephrologists.”

Highlighting the importance of kidney transplant, Dr Sunil Kumar, said, “Careful selection of donors is very important as a successful surgery outcome ensures a healthy life for the patient. Also, patients can return home within a week of the surgery and resume their normal routine activities. Except for the first three months, there are very few dietary restrictions. As far as ABO incompatible kidney transplant is concerned, it is technically challenging and has to be well planned to avoid surgical complications. Our team has been performing such complicated surgeries since last seven years with excellent outcomes.

पंचकुला, 20 जुलाई – सेक्टर 1 से सेक्टर 20 के निवासियों की समस्याओं के समाधान के लिए हरियाणा विधानसभा अध्यक्ष श्री ज्ञानचंद गुप्ता की अध्यक्षता में 21 जुलाई को सुबह 11 बजे जनता दरबार का आयोजन किया जाएगा। जनता दरबार पंचकुला के सेक्टर 1 स्थित पीडब्ल्यूडी रेस्ट हाउस में आयोजित किया जाएगा।


    एक सरकारी प्रवक्ता ने जानकारी साझा करते हुए बताया कि जनता दरबार का उद्देश्य निवासियों को संबंधित अधिकारियों के साथ सीधे बातचीत करने का अवसर प्रदान करना है। कार्यक्रम के दौरान जिला प्रशासन के विभिन्न अधिकारी लोगों की शिकायतों को सुनने और उनकी वास्तविक समस्याओं का मौके पर ही समाधान करने के लिए मौजूद रहेंगे।

पंचकूला, 20 जुलाई- स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारियों और सामान्य जनता के लिए जिला में दो गैर-संचारी रोग (एनसीडी) स्क्रीनिंग शिविर आयोजित किए गए। शिविरों का उद्देश्य स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारियों और समुदाय के सदस्यों के बीच जागरूकता बढ़ाना और मधुमेह, उच्च रक्तचाप, हृदय रोगों और कैंसर जैसे सामान्य एनसीडी को रोकना था।


इस अवसर पर सिविल सर्जन डॉ. मुक्ता कुमार  और उप सिविल सर्जन (एनसीडी) डॉ. शिवानी हुडा भी उपस्थित थी।


सिविल सर्जन डॉ. मुक्ता कुमार  ने बताया कि पहला शिविर सेक्टर-2 में एनएचएम हरियाणा मुख्यालय में आयोजित किया गया। यह शिविर राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य मिशन के तहत एक राज्य विशिष्ट नवाचार – ’फिट हेल्थ स्टाफ’ पहल के हिस्से के रूप में, एनएचएम के तहत काम करने वाले स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारियों के लिए किया गया। इस शिविर में लगभग 110 स्वास्थ्य अधिकारियों की जांच की गई।  


उन्होंने बताया कि दूसरा शिविर शहरी स्वास्थ्य और कल्याण केंद्र (यूएचडब्ल्यूसी) सेक्टर-28 में आयोजित किया गया। शिविर में सेक्टर 28 और आसपास के इलाकों में रहने वाले लोगों को गैर-संचारी रोग संबंधित सेवाएं दी गईं। इस अवसर पर 100 से अधिक लोगों ने स्क्रीनिंग सेवाओं का लाभ उठाया और एनसीडी की रोकथाम और प्रबंधन पर स्वास्थ्य शिक्षा और परामर्श प्राप्त किया।


जिला कार्यक्रम समन्वयक डॉ. शिल्पा सिंह और चिकित्सा अधिकारी (एनसीडी) डॉ. शाक्षी जैन ने जिला एनसीडी सेल टीम के साथ शिविरों के आयोजन में मदद की और लाभार्थियों को मौके पर ही परामर्श प्रदान किया। जिला एनसीडी सेल द्वारा एनसीडी जागरूकता और स्वस्थ जीवन शैली प्रथाओं पर पैम्फलेट और ब्रोशर भी वितरित किए गए। उन्होंने बताया कि ’फिट हेल्थ स्टाफ’ एनएचएम हरियाणा द्वारा अपने स्टाफ सदस्यों के स्वास्थ्य और कल्याण को बढ़ावा देने के लिए शुरू की गई एक अनूठी पहल है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य सभी स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारियों की सामान्य एनसीडी के लिए स्क्रीनिंग करना और उन्हें उचित उपचार और अनुवर्ती कार्रवाई प्रदान करना है। यह पहल स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारियों को शराब और तंबाकू बंद करने के साथ-साथ नियमित व्यायाम, संतुलित आहार और तनाव प्रबंधन जैसी स्वस्थ आदतें अपनाने के लिए भी प्रोत्साहित करती है।


चिकित्सा अधिकारी (एनसीडी) डॉ. शाक्षी जैन ने बताया कि एनसीडी स्क्रीनिंग शिविर एनएचएम और स्वास्थ्य विभाग द्वारा कार्यान्वित गैर संचारी रोगों की रोकथाम और नियंत्रण के लिए राष्ट्रीय कार्यक्रम (एनपी-एनसीडी) का हिस्सा हैं। यह कार्यक्रम स्वास्थ्य देखभाल सुविधाओं के विभिन्न स्तरों पर मधुमेह, उच्च रक्तचाप, हृदय रोगों और कैंसर (जैसे स्तन, गर्भाशय और मौखिक कैंसर) जैसे सामान्य एनसीडी के लिए स्क्रीनिंग, निदान, उपचार और अनुवर्ती सेवाएं प्रदान करता है। उन्होंने बताया कि यह कार्यक्रम एनसीडी की रोकथाम और नियंत्रण पर व्यापक जागरूकता और व्यवहार परिवर्तन संचार बनाने पर भी केंद्रित है।
