British High Commission (BHC) alongwith Department for International Development (DFID) met Commissioner Cum C.E.O, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd., Kamal Kishore Yadav, IAS, with the Deloitte team members for discussing the way forward to identify another intervention under Smart Urban Development of Indian States (SmUDI).

The emphasis during discussion was on possibilities of improvement in traffic management and to review the existing scenario for the purpose of implementation of NMT and pedestrianisation in Chandigarh and identifying the potential interventions that may be taken up during next phase of this programme.

Further discussions were held in detail on City Investment Promotion Cell and strategy for strengthening start-up eco-systems in the city. The meeting was attended by Alex Pykett, Acting Dy. High Commissioner, Charanjiv Bacchar, Dy. Head of Mission, Javaid Malla, Urban and Energy Adviser from British Deputy High Commission and Harpreet Singh Arora, Urban Adviser, DFID, Kapil Setia, Chief Architect- U.T, Shashank Ananad, Traffic SSP, Chandigarh alongwith Deloitte team members.

MCC roads committee meeting held

 A meeting of Roads committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Satparkash Aggarwal and attended by other members of the committee namely Sh. Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, Sh. Shakti Parkash Devshali, Sh. Bharat Kumar, Smt. Ravinder Kaur Gujral, Sh. Charanjiv Singh, all councilors, Sh. Sanjay Arora, Superintending Engineer, B&R and concerned officers of B&R wing, MCC.

During the meeting detailed discussions were held regarding strengthening of works under the B&R wing, MCC. The members decided that the committee will visit ward wise to take stock of roads and other works falling under the B&R wing i.e. paver blocks and community centres etc.

The committee members asked the concerned officers to start patch work in the roads immediate after the monsoon season is over. The officers apprised the committee members that hot mix plant tender has been prepared and will be called shortly so that the patch work of roads be made regular affair without any kind of hindrance.

The members asked the officers to repair the footpaths wherever paver blocks have been broken and properly fix the paver blocks around the trees where breathing space had been provided to the trees. They asked to remove malba scattered throughout the road sides and open spaces immediately.

29 से 31 जुलाई तक बाल भवन में आयोजित की जाएगी राष्ट्रीय चित्रकला प्रतियोगिता

 जिला बाल कल्याण परिषद् द्वारा 29 जुलाई से 31 जुलाई तक राष्ट्रीय चित्रकला प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन करवाया जा रहा है।

इसकी जानकारी देते हुये जिला बाल कल्याण अधिकारी श्रीमती पुनम नागपाल ने बताया कि प्रतियोगिता की सभी तैयारियां कर ली गई हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि यह प्रतियोगिता चार समूहों में करवाई जाएगी। जिसमें  5-9 वर्ष तक के बच्चों के लिए ग्रीन, 10-16 वर्ष के बच्चों हेतू व्हाईट तथा विशेष बच्चों के लिए 5-10 वर्ष के बच्चों हेतू येलो तथा 11-18 वर्ष के बच्चों के लिए रैड समूह बनाया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि सभी सरकारी एवं गैर सरकारी स्कूलों में शिक्षारत बच्चों को इस प्रतियोगिता में भाग लेने के लिए जिला शिक्षा अधिकारी के माध्यम से सूचना भेजी जा चुकी है।

विधायक ज्ञान चंद गुप्ता ने 9 लोगों को वितरित किये सी0एम0 राहत कोष के चैक

विधायक ज्ञान चन्द गुप्ता ने आज उपायुक्त कार्यालय में नाढा साहिब के 9 दुकानदारों को मुख्यमंत्री राहत कोष के चैक वितरित किये। इस मौके पर उपायुक्त मुकेश कुमार अहूजा भी विशेषतौर पर उपस्थित रहे। उल्लेख्नीय है कि 26 जनवरी 2017 को आग लगने के कारण इन दुकानदारों का नुक्सान हुआ था और विधायक ज्ञान चन्द गुप्ता के प्रयासों से मुख्यमंत्री द्वारा इन दुकानदारों को एक लाख 84 हजार रूपये की राशि राहत के तौर पर उपलब्ध करवाई गई है।

विधायक ने नाढा साहिब निवासी सर्वजीत सिंह को 22 हजार,परमजीत सिंह व अमरीक सिंह को 20-20 हजार,धर्मेन्द्र सिंह,कल्याण सिंह और हरप्रीत सिंह को 22-22 हजार,राजिन्द्र सिंह को 26 हजार,भूपेन्द्र सिंह को 16 हजार रूपये तथा सुरेन्द्र सिंह को 14 हजार रूपये की राहत राशि का चैक उपलब्ध करवाया। इन सभी दुकानदारों ने इस राहत के लिये मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहर लाल और विधायक ज्ञान चन्द गुप्ता का आभार व्यक्त किया।

राजकीय स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय में मार्गदर्शन सप्ताह कार्यक्रम में विद्यार्थियों को संबोधित करते हुए विवेक आत्रेय।

रोजगार विभाग द्वारा 22 से 26 जुलाई तक आयोजित किये जा रहे मार्गदर्शन सप्ताह के तहत राजकीय स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय सेक्टर-1 में दो दिवसीय कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम में सेवानिवृत प्रशासनिक अधिकारी विवेक आत्रेय ने युवाओं को केरियर काउंसिल से संबंधित जानकारियां दी और मार्गदर्शन किया। 

जिला रोजगार अधिकारी ममता बूरा ने बताया कि इस सप्ताह के दौरान विवेक आत्रेय सहित विभिन्न विशेषज्ञों को युवाओं के मार्गदर्शन के लिये आमंत्रित किया गया था। विवेक आत्रेय ने युवाओं को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति में कोई न कोई प्रतिभा छिपी होती हैं। इस प्रतिभा को निखारने के लिये सही मार्गदर्शन और निरंतर प्रयास करने की आवश्यकता है। उन्होंने कहा कि विद्यार्थी शिक्षा के दौरान ही अपने जीवन का लक्ष्य निर्धारित करें और अपनी रूचि के लक्ष्य की प्राप्ति के लिये कड़ी मेहनत करें। उन्होंने कहा कि सफलता का एकमात्र विकल्प कठिन परिश्रम है और परिश्रम से ही लक्ष्य की प्राप्ति होती हैं।

उन्होंने कहा कि जीवन में असफलता से निराश और हताश होने की बजाय उनसे सबक लें और अपनी खामियों को पहचानकर उन्हें दूर करने के प्रयास करें। उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय व अंतराष्ट्रीय स्तर की ऐसी विभूतियों के उदहारण भी दिये जिन्होंने कठिन परिस्थितियों का सामना करते हुए अपनी पहचान स्थापित की हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि व्यक्ति का व्यवहार कुशल होना भी जरूरी है क्योंकि इससे जीवन में आगे बढ़ने में सहयोग मिलता है।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कारगिल शहीदों को किया नमन-सेक्टर-12 पंचकूला के शहीद स्मारक में दी श्रद्धांजलि

कारगिल विजय दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में आज मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहरलाल जी ने सेक्टर-12 पंचकूला में शहीद स्मारक पर पुष्पचक्र अर्पित करके कारगिल के शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दी। इससे पूर्व पुलिस की टुकड़ी ने शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि दी और मुख्यमंत्री ने शहीदों की कुर्बानी को शैल्यूट किया।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि देश की जनता शहीदों की कुर्बानी का हमेशा याद रखेंगी और देश की सुरक्षा के लिये प्राण न्यौछार करने वाले शहीदों का ऋण कभी नहीं चुकाया जा सकता। उन्होंने कहा कि कारगिल में देश के 527 बहादुर सैनिकों ने कुर्बानी दी थी और भारतीय सेनाओं की बहादुरी का लौहा पूरा विश्व मानता है। उन्होंने कहा कि आज के दिन मैं शहदों के परिजनों को भी नमन करता हूं। उन्होंने कहा कि देश की सेनाऐ दुशमन की किसी भी चुनौति का सामना करने के लिये पूरी तरह सक्षम है। मुख्यमंत्री ने इस मौके पर उपस्थित भूतपूर्व सैनिकों से भी बातचीत की और उनके बेहतर स्वास्थ्य की कामना की।

इस मौके पर पुलिस आयुक्त सौरभ सिंह, उपायुक्त मुकेश कुमार आहूजा, एसडीएम ममता शर्मा सहित प्रशासन व पुलिस के अन्य अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।

श्रीनगर: राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद विजय दिवस की 20वीं वर्षगांठ पर श्रीनगर के चिनार कॉप्स युद्ध स्मारक पहुंचे। जहां उन्होंने बादामी बाग छावनी में शहीद जवानों को श्रद्धांजलि दी।

पहले उन्हें द्रास जाना था।उनके साथ राज्यपाल सत्यपाल मलिक भी मौजूद रहे।

कोविंद खराब मौसम की वजह से कारगिल के द्रास नहीं पहुंच सके। जिसके बाद श्रीनगर में उनका कार्यक्रम रखा गया।

राष्ट्रपति और उनके सशस्त्र बलों के सर्वोच्च कमांडर को श्रीनगर तकनीकी हवाई अड्डे से हेलीकॉप्टर से बादामी बाग छावनी ले जाया गया।

जहां राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने शुक्रवार को साल 1999 में कारगिल यु्द्ध में शहीद हुए भारतीय सेना के सैनिकों और अधिकारियों को श्रद्धांजलि दी।

राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद अब श्रीनगर के बादामी बाग छावनी में में पहुंचे। इसके अलावा तीन सेवा प्रमुखों ने द्रास युद्ध स्मारक पर शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की।

राष्ट्रपति कोविंद ने ट्वीट कर लिखा था कि कारगिल विजय दिवस में शहीद हुए जवानों के बलिदान और उनकी वीरता को राष्ट्र स्वीकार करता है।

हम उनके बलिदान के ऋणी रहेंगे। हम भारत की रक्षा करने वालों की धैर्य-वीरता को सलाम करते हैं।

Tree Plantation Drive by Professors Emeriti at PU

 It was one of the rare occasions at Alumni House today when around 30 number of Professors Emeriti got together to plant 105 trees at the invitation of Prof. Deepti Gupta, Dean Alumni Relations. The group were happy to be together and called it a historic occasion because only once before had they got together at one venue. Two former Vice Chancellors Prof. M.M.Puri and Prof. R.P. Bambah were extremely happy to see the development of Alumni House under the care of Professor Anil Monga and Prof. Deepti Gupta. Every Professor selected a tree from among a sapling and planted every sapling with their own hand.

            Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, PU in his address called them a vulnerable Gurus of the University and said that the occasion is a symbolic one as all these Professors were responsible for the growth of wonderful tree of PU.

            Prof. Shankarji Jha, Dean University of Instructions graced the occasion and greeted everyone. By turns, each eminent personality shared his or her thoughts with the gathering.

MCC teams takes status of ongoing works

Following the orders of Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, different teams of engineers under the supervision of Zonal Commissioners visited various parts of city to take stock of ongoing projects and problems in the local areas.

Sh. Tilakraj, Additional Commissioner, MCC visited sector 20 and surrounding areas alongwith Executive Engineers. He directed the Medical Officer of Health to ensure regular supply of medicine at sector 20 civil dispensary and asked Executive Engineer, Horticulture to beautify the open space over there in the dispensary. He also directed the MOH and E.E., Horticulture for proper cleaning of debris and asked the Executive Engineer roads to repair boundary wall of park in front of # 688 & 689 at sector 20. He also directed to check Govt. quarters area relates to MCC or not and remove encroachments in the area near Masjid and reserve land in sector 20. The ACMC directed the Executive Engineer, Horticulture for proper maintenance of green belt opposite Masjid along with V-5 road in sector 20 and provide railing in the open space between # 1097 & 1096 and proper beautification of the area.

Sh. S.K. Jain, Additional Commissioner visited sector 44, 45 and other areas alongwith concerned Executive Engineers of MCC and directed them to clear the congress grass infront of garden of annuals, sector 44. He also directed the concerned officers to repair the notice boards installed in the garden and entry point at sector 44 & 45. He asked the enforcement inspector to remove the illegally stacked building material i.e. bricks, sand etc. in burial market in sector 45. He also directed the concerned officers to display the sign boards of “Public Utility” outside the toilet blocks prominently. In addition to that the ACMC also visited the enforcement store and C&D waste plant, Industrial area, Ph-I and directed the concerned engineers to remove the C&D waste lying in the road side from sector 31 approaching to Tribune chowk.

A team of officers also visited sector 49 alongwith area councilor Smt. Heera Negi. The area councilor and representatives of Resident Welfare Association of the area took round of the roads and streets alongwith parks, where maintenance works required to be initiated. The area councilor asked the concerned engineers to complete the ongoing maintenance works and start new works immediate after the rainy season is over.

Commissioner starts tree plantation drive in Sector 24

 Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner of Chandigarh today started tree plantation drive near park, Sector 24, Chandigarh in the presence local residents of area and other officers of MCC.

During the drives around 125 flowering shrubs & 6 trees were planted inside the local park. In addition to that 20 ornamental trees and 50 shrubs have been planted in a drive held at Valley park, Dhanas in presence of area councillor Smt. Sheela Devi and local residents.
