A team of six students from UIET, Panjab University, participated and won the 1st prize in the Smart India Hackathon 2019- Hardware Edition held at IIT Hyderabad from 8th-12th July 2019. The team was given the problem of preventing accidents like sudden increase in temperature, pressure, vibration, noise etc. in industries, by the company Kokuyo Camlin. Solution involved using real time monitoring, tracking dashboard, predicting critical situations and taking automated control measures. Total 20,000 teams participated in the initial rounds and 250 qualified for the nationals to solve problems on 117 problem statements. The team was declared winner of the 5 day National Finals at IIT Hyderabad after clearing the idea round, the prototyping round and the finale.They were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-. The team comprised of UIET students: Akshay Kumar (CSE), Bipin Kumar (IT), CharviMendiratta (ECE), Dhawal Sharda (ECE), Sagar Kalra (IT), Rahul Bafila (CSE) as participants, and Mayur Vashishth (MECH) and Pranav Kumar (ECE) as mentors.

A two day national conference titled ‘ Draft New Education Policy 2019 : A Way Ahead’ will be held at Panjab University on 16th and 17th July 2019. The conference is being organized by Centre for Academic Leadership and Education Management (CALEM) and Department of Education, PU, under the aegis of PMMMNMTT, Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI. The two day event will have experts deliberate on the draft of the New Education Policy 2019 with special focus on reforms in Governance and Governance Structures. The conference will have sessions on School Education and Teacher Education, Higher Education and its challenges, Professional and Technical Education; and Governance and administration of Education and Research.
The two day conference assumes significance as it is an effort in contributing towards country’s first education policy of the 21st century. “The aim of this conference is to bring together various stakeholders and prepare a compendium of recommendations on DNEP 2019.The registration for the conference is open for administrators of educational institutes, teacher educators and teachers from schools as well as higher education institutes” informed Prof. Nandita Singh and Prof. Latika Sharma, Program Coordinator for the two day conference.

स्थानीय सैंट जेवियर स्कूल से वर्ष 2014 में 12वीं पास करने वाली प्रतिभा मेहरा ने यूजीसी द्वारा लिए जाने वाली अंग्रेजी विषय में नेट की परीक्षा पास की है। नेट की परीक्षा पास होने पर स्कूल अध्यापकों व उनके साथियों ने बधाई दी है। प्रतिभा मेहरा ने सिरसा के सैंट जेवियर स्कूल से 12वीं की परीक्षा पास की और अब पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय से एम.़ए (अंग्रेजी) के चैथे एवं फाईनल सैमेस्टर की परीक्षा दी हुई है। प्रतिभा के पिता सतीश मेहरा जो सिरसा में वर्ष 2014 तक जिला सूचना एवं जन सम्पर्क अधिकारी के पद पर कार्यरत रहे हैं। वर्तमान में वह हरियाणा राजभवन चण्डीगढ़ में उपनिदेशक (सूचना एवं जन सम्पर्क) के पद पर कार्यरत है।

ऐलनाबाद क्षेत्र के नाथूसरी चौपटा में हरियाणा के वित्त, राजस्व, आबकारी एवं कराधान मंत्री कैप्टन अभिमन्यु मीडिया से रुबरु हुए।
वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि जनता के सहयोग से फिर से हरियाणा प्रदेश में बीजेपी की सरकार बनेगी और अबकी बार 75 पार के लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने का प्रदेश की जनता मन बना चुकी है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश में परिवारवाद व क्षेत्रवाद की राजनीति का अंत हुआ है। उन्होंने कांग्रेस पर भी निशाना साधा और कहा कि कांग्रेस अपने आपसी विवाद में उलझी हुई है और अपने अध्यक्ष का फैसला नहीं कर पा रही है।
कांग्रेस विधायक करण सिंह दलाल के चंडीगढ़ पर दिए बयान पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कैप्टन अभिमन्यु ने कहा कि जो लोग राजनीतिक हाशिए पर जा चुके हैं ऐसे लोग इस प्रकार के बयान बाजी करते हैं भाजपा के लिए चंडीगढ़ कोई मुद्दा नहीं है। उन्होंने दुष्यंत चौटाला द्वारा 75 प्रतिशत निजी क्षेत्र में हरियाणा के युवाओं के लिए आरक्षण पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कहा कि जिस प्रकार की भाषा का प्रयोग वो कर रहे है वह हरियाणा की जनता किसी भी सूरत में बर्दाश्त नहीं करेगी। पहले ही जनता इन्हे नकार चुकी हैं और आगामी चुनाव में भी जनता इन्हे नकार देगी।
उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा द्वारा संगठन को और मजबूत बनाने के लिए सदस्यता अभियान शुरु किया गया है। इस कड़ी में बीजेपी कार्यकर्ताओं व पन्ना प्रमुखों की बैठकों का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि अगस्त के महीने में संगठन का पूर्ण रुप से विस्तार कर लिया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश में आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों में भारतीय जनता पार्टी को जनमत प्राप्त होगा और एक बार फिर जनता के सहयोग से बीजेपी की सरकार बनेगी। उन्होंने कहा कि हरियाणा में पूरी पारदर्शिता के साथ युवाओं को नौकरियां दी जा रही है। मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल की तारीफ करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि प्रदेश में सबका साथ-सबका विकास की भावना से बिना भेद भाव के हर हलके का विकास किया है और आगे भी तेज गति से विकास कार्य जारी रहेंगे।

हरियाणा के वित्त, राजस्व, आबकारी एवं कराधान मंत्री कैप्टन अभिमन्यु ने कहा कि लोकतांत्रिक प्रणाली में भारतीय जनता पार्टी हिंदुस्तान की ही नहीं बल्कि विश्व का सबसे बड़ा राजनीतिक दल है। इस दल को नई ऊर्जा, विश्वास व संकल्प के साथ और आगे बढाना है जिसके माध्यम से विश्व में अमन, शांति, विश्व बंधुता समेत समस्त मानवता का कल्याण हो। इसी लक्ष्य व विचारधारा को लेकर भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने संगठन पर्व सदस्यता अभियान 2019 चलाया जा रहा है। इस अभियान के तहत अधिक से अधिक लोगों को पार्टी से जोडऩे का काम करना होगा।
कैप्टन अभिमन्यु गांव नाथूसरी चौपटा की शिव धर्मशाला में संगठन बीजेपी पर्व सदस्यता अभियान के तहत मंडल अध्यक्ष, मंडल सदस्यता प्रमुख एवं सह प्रमुख की बैठक को संबोधित कर रहे थे। बैठक की अध्यक्षता हरियाणा बीज विकास निगम के चेयरमैन पवन बैनिवाल ने की। इस मौके पर गांव कुम्हारिया के सरपंच सीताराम व गांव रामपुरा ढिल्लों के सरपंच भागीरथ ढिल्लों ने अपने अनेक साथियों सहित भारतीय जनता पार्टी की सदस्यता ग्रहण की।
वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि नाथूसरी चौपटा समेत ऐलनाबाद क्षेत्र से उनका गहरा संबंध है। यहां के लोगों में आत्मियता, आदर सत्कार, प्रेम-प्यार की भावना कूट-कूट कर भरी हुई है। अत: कहा जा सकता है कि यहां की भूमि में देवताओं का वास है। उन्होंने खुशी व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी एवं मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल के कुशल नेतृत्व में इस क्षेत्र में कमल खिल रहा है और लोग बीजेपी की जनकल्याणकारी नीतियों से प्रभावित होकर लोगों का रुझान बीजेपी की तरफ और बढ रहा है। राजस्व मंत्री ने कहा कि ऐलनाबाद क्षेत्र में हाल ही में हुए लोकसभा चुनाव में 35 हजार की लीड ऐलनाबाद क्षेत्र में बदलाव का संकेत है।
उन्होंने कहा कि हरियाणा में आगामी विधानसभा चुनाव में अबकी बार 75 पार का लक्ष्य है। इस लक्ष्य को प्राप्त करने के लिए बीजेपी के पदाधिकारियों एवं कार्यकर्ताओं को नई उमंग व नए संकल्प के साथ समर्पित होकर काम करना होगा और पन्ना प्रमुखों के माध्यम से सभी लोगों तक पहुंचना होगा। उन्होंने पन्ना प्रमुख के महत्व के बारे विस्तार से जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि एक पन्ना प्रमुख लगभग 15 परिवारों की पहचान कर मतदाताओं से सम्पर्क कर बीजेपी से जोडऩे के लिए संगठन की पद्दति को आगे बढाने का काम करेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि भारतीय जनता पार्टी संस्कारों वाली पार्टी है जो परिवार व सेवा भावना से जनता की सेवा करती है। उन्होंने कहा कि पूरे हिंदुस्तान में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की सुनामी में भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने लोगों ने प्रचंड बहुमत से भारतीय जनता पार्टी की सरकार बनाई है और हरियाणा में पहले से ज्यादा मतों के अंतर से सभी 10 लोकसभा सीटों पर विजय का परचम लहराया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि हरियाणा प्रदेश में मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल के कुशल नेतृत्व में हरियाणा एक-हरियाणवी एक, सबका साथ-सबका विकास, करके गरीब से गरीब व्यक्ति का विश्वास बहाल किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि वर्तमान हरियाणा सरकार के कार्यकाल में लगभग एक लाख युवाओं को सरकार नौकरी मुहैया करवाई जाएंगी। इनमें से 70 हजार नौकरियों में बिना पर्ची व खर्ची के पारदर्शिता के साथ ज्वाईन करवाया गया है जबकि पिछली कांग्रेस सरकार के 10 साल के शासनकाल के दौरान सिर्फ 18 हजार नौकरियां व इससे पूर्व इनैलों सरकार के शासनकाल के दौरान लगभग 5600 नौकरियां दी गई थी। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार का पूर्ण प्रयास है कि सत्ता का लाभ आम आदमी को मिलना चाहिए और गरीब से गरीब व्यक्ति तक सरकारी योजनाओं का लाभ मिलना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि वे अपने स्वयं का वेतन गरीब बेटियों की शादियों व अन्य सामाजिक कार्यों पर खर्च करते हैं ताकि समाज को प्रेरणा मिले और समाज में राष्टï्रीयता की भावना पैदा हो। इससे पूर्व वित्त मंत्री ने डा. श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी के चित्र पर पुष्प अर्पित किये।
इससे पूर्व हरियाणा बीज विकास निगम के चेयरमैन पवन बैनिवाल ने सदस्यता अभियान का जिक्र करते हुए पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं से अधिक से अधिक लोगों को जोडऩे की अपील की। उन्होंने कहा कि भाजपा की नीतियों के कारण परिवार बढ़ता जा रहा है और हजारों परिवार ज्वाईन कर चुके हैं। उन्होंने विश्वास दिलाया कि आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों में बीजेपी का प्रत्याशी यहां से भारी बहुमत से जीतेगा। उन्होंने खुशी व्यक्त की कि पिछले सदस्यता अभियान में ऐलनाबाद क्षेत्र पूरे हरियाणा में दूसरे नम्बर पर रहा था, इस बार भी अधिक से अधिक लोगों को जोड़ कर पार्टी संगठन का पूर्ण विस्तार किया जाएगा। इससे पूर्व पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा वित्त मंत्री एवं चेयरमैन का भव्य स्वागत किया गया। बुजुर्ग पूर्ण सिंह ने पटका पहना कर स्वागत किया।

The students also participated in tree plantation drive for greener environment and few of the students adopted them for their care.
Before the commencement of valedictory session, Mr. T.K. Razdan, Principal, Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management also planted some botanical varieties of plants with students. In his address, he informed students about the importance of right attitude and humbleness in the hospitality and tourism industry. He emphasized upon right mix of practical and theoretical concepts for career development.
Mr. Anish Slath, Director, UIHTM welcomed chief guest and informed him about the various sessions which took place since commencement of the induction day and also informed him about the green initiative by the department.

BioNEST and Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University(PU), Chandigarh launched a new product named “Novice Seri”, here today by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor in the presence of Dr. Ani Wali, Managing Director, FITT-IIT, New Delhi and Dr. Rohit Sharma, Chairperson & Project Leader, BioNEST, PU .
PU VC in his address congratulated the team for the product launch and assured of all help from PU. He spoke about the potential and strengths of the University scholars and students while emphasizing on importance of research and innovation in the progress of society and nation. He informed that for the benefit of Industry, PU has decided to open the labs of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for outsiders. He also announced opening up of a new Incubation Centre at PU.
Dr. Wali addressed the gathering by stating the importance of entrepreneurship and Innovative Ecosystem in India. He added that PU is being looked at as a leader for Incubation in Northern India. He assured of all support to bring more such activities in the in the region.
Dr. Rohit informed that there are 16 Incubatees from 3 different verticals i.e. Bio-Pharmaceuticals, Bio Processed Technology and Food & Agriculture are being run which are heavily funded through different funding opportunities. He informed that the process of interaction with industry for commercialisation and technology transfer of the new product has already been initiated. The product will be beneficial for the R&D Industry where multi process parameters are working which will reduce the efforts by 1/6th and also will be cost effective.
The inventor, Ms. Shivanshi Vashist, , Sr. Scientific Officer and Innovator, Panjab University said that “The apparatus can be used in research and development laboratories and in various industries that require optimizations of multiple processes (all types of biological optimization and/or production processes) in a single run. Further, it has a wide area of application and can be manufactured at industrial level because of the operation of multiple parametric controls in a single apparatus setup.”
The present invention involves a set of 6 bioreactors/fermenters/vessels using the same source of water and air, each process running independent of each other that can be attached in series or discontinuous which are connected to the main control panel with unique and innovative electronic module that can control multiple parameters in multiple bioreactors at the given time. This will save time cost, water and or air wastage and an advanced system of biological engineering that take the production setup to a new level. Each vessel is connected to the main control panel through a panel board easing out the operations at user level. The present apparatus is not only novel in its making and construction but also suffices the industrial application where production of large biotechnological material is to be carried out in a single run. The key feature of present invention is a specifically designed electronic module which enables independent operation of multiple fermentations/ bio processes with a single control panel through separate panel board for each vessel/ fermenter.
The product is fabricated by Mr. Karam Singh, GAK Equipments and Technologies, Mohali. Large number of Stakeholders, Chairpersons, Faculty, Researchers and students were present during the launch.
