An interaction of Principal Investigators (PI) of Panjab University was organized, here today with Professor Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University. Professor R.K. Singla, Dean
Research apprised the PIs of the intent of the Vice Chancellor of promoting research and innovation agenda of the University. While appreciating the efforts of the faculty members in bringing various
kinds of research projects, the PU VC shared that the interaction was called to understand the concerns of PIs so that process of implementation of research proposals is facilitated. He motivated the faculty members to share their concerns and issues regarding their Research Projects without thinking what we will think.
Sh. Vikram Nayyar, Finance and Development Officer (FDO), PU informed about various initiatives taken by the Office of FDO to facilitate and speed-up the implementation of research projects. Principal Investigators shared their concerns and issues they are facing at different levels, which were assured to be resolved. The Vice Chancellor is very affirmative of providing a conducive
environment for research to all the faculty members.

Chandigarh, September 12:- The Children of Child Parliaments of sector 25 organized a drive to say, “No to Single use Plastic” in Sector 25, Janta & Kumhar Colony, Chandigarh. Mrs. Sheela Devi, area councillor of Ward No.5, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, Sanitary Inspector, Childline (1098), the team of AHTU (Anti Human Trafficking Unit) as well as Parwaaz Foundation were also took part in the rally. During this crusade, area Councillor, distributed free biodegradable bags to street vendors. Mrs. Sheela Devi and children from the Child Parliaments sensitized the street vendors of Janta & Kumhar Colony about the dangers of single use plastic and highlighted the efforts of the Municipal Corporation to abolish single use plastic in Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, September 12:- Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh today directed the concerned engineers of MCC to get the repair work done immediately at booths in vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran.
During the Thursday field level visit, the Commissioner visited ward No.24 alongwith Sh. Anil Kumar Dubey, area councilor, Sh. Manoj Kumar Bansal, Chief Engineer, Sh. Shailender Singh, Superintending Engineer, Public Health other and concerned officers of MCC.
The team visited Thada Market and the commissioner directed the chief engineer to complete the work in a fast manner. They also visited Mauli complex, Railway colony and other parts of Vikas Nagar. The team visited the site of new park and green belt. The Commissioner directed the concerned officers to repair footpath areas wherever required and repair roads with providing pavers in the narrow streets. They also visited the area Vikas Nagar part-II for development.
The Commissioner directed the enforcement inspectors to remove encroachments from public places and instructed sanitation inspectors to challan the violators for littering and check these with regard to health and hygiene.

Asha Kumari Jaswal, Smt. Heera Negi, Sh.Gurpreet Singh, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner and concerned officers of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
During the meeting the committee approved the following agendas:
1. Exemption of Property Tax on residential Lands/Buildings- Defence Personnel.
2. Waive off interest for the period for 22.11.2004 -31.03.2006 in respect of temporary shed area in Industrial Area phase I and II.
3. Exemption of property tax in respect of Shri Mahavir Mandir Muni Sabha (Regd.), Muni Ji Mandir, Sector 23-B, Chandigarh PID 130166, the committee recommended the agenda item for General House.

पंचकूला, 12 सितंबर-
सफाई कर्मियों द्वार वेतन बढ़ौतरी के लिये आज मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहरलाल का आभार व्यक्त करने के लिये सेक्टर-4 पंचकूला में एक बैठक का आयोजन किया गया। इस बैठक की अध्यक्षता राज्य सफाई कर्मचारी आयोग के वाईस चेयरमैन कृष्ण कुमार ने की।
सफाई कर्मचारियों ने कहा कि प्रदेश के पहले मुख्यमंत्री है जिन्होंने समाज के हर वर्ग के कल्याण के लिये कार्यक्रम लागू किये है। उन्होंने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री ने शहरी क्षेत्र के सफाई कर्मचारियों का वेतन 13500 से बढ़ाकर 15000 रुपये तथा ग्रामीण क्षेत्र के सफाई कर्मचारियों का वेतन 11000 से बढ़ाकर 12500 करके प्रदेश के लाखों गरीब कर्मचारियो ंको राहत प्रदान की है। उन्होंने इस कार्य के लिये वाईस चेयरमैन इंजीनियर कृष्ण कुमार द्वारा किये गये प्रयासों की सराहना भी की।

पंचकूला, 12 सितंबर-
मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहरलाल ने आज डिजिल लिंक के माध्यम से पंचकूला जिला की 705 करोड़ रुपये की लागत की 3 विकास परियोजनाओं का शिलांयास किया। इन परियोजनाओं का निर्माण हरियाणा शहरी विकास प्राधिकरण द्वारा किया जायेगा। मुख्यमंत्री ने माता मनसा देवी मंदिर परिसर में श्री माता मनसा देवी पूजा स्थल बोर्ड द्वारा कला एवं सांस्कृतिक कार्यविभाग हरियाणा के सहयोग से 25 लाख रुपये की लागत से स्थापित की गई 17 कलाकृतियों का अनावरण भी किया। यह कलाकृतियां राष्ट्रीय व अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर के शिल्पकारों द्वारा आधुनिक मूर्तिकला प्रशिक्षण शिविर के दौरान तैयार की गई और मूर्तियों के माध्यम से हरियाणा की संस्कृति के विभिन्न पहलुओं का कलात्मक प्रदर्शन किया गया है।
सेक्टर-1 पंचकूला के लोक निर्माण विभाग विश्राम गृह में आयोजित इस कार्यक्रम में विधायक एवं मुख्य सचेतक ज्ञानचंद गुप्ता, उपायुक्त मुकेश कुमार आहूूजा, कला एवं संस्कृति विभाग के निदेशक महेश्वर शर्मा, शहरी विकास प्राधीकरण से महावीर कौशिक, श्रीमाता मनसा देवी पूजा स्थल बोर्ड के सीईओ एमएस यादव, भाजपा के जिलाध्यक्ष दीपक शर्मा, महामंत्री हरेंद्र मलिक, भाजपा नेता कुलभूषण गोयल सहित अन्य अधिकारी व भाजपा के विभिन्न प्रकोष्ठों के पदाधिकारी उपस्थित रहे।
उल्लेखनीय है कि मुख्यमंत्री ने आज करनाल जिला से करनाल, जींद और पंचकूला जिला की 1363 करोड़ रुपये की 64 विकास परियोजनाओं का शिलान्यास और उद्घाटन किया है, जिनमें पंचकूला जिला की 4 परियोजनाएं भी शामिल है। मुख्यमंत्री ने जिला की जिन परियोजनाओं का उद्घाटन किया, उनमें हरियाणा शहरी विकास प्राधिकरण द्वारा इंदिरा काॅलोनी, राजीव काॅलोनी व खडक मंगोली के झुग्गीवासियों के पुर्नवास के लिये 650 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बनने वाले 7500 मकान, शहरी विकास प्राधिकरण द्वारा सेक्टर 20, 21 व 24, 26 को जोड़ने वाली सड़क और घग्गर नदी पर पुल निर्माण से संबंधित 50.37 करोड़ रुपये की विकास परियोजना तथा इसी विभाग द्वारा सेक्टर 31 पंचकूला में 4.42 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बनाये जाने वाले सामुदायिक भवन का शिलान्यास शामिल है। मुख्यमंत्री ने श्री माता मनसा देवी मंदिर परिसर में स्थापित की गई 17 मूर्तियों को अनावरण भी किया। मुख्यमंत्री ने डिजिटल लिंक से करनाल, पंचकूला व जींद जिला के लोगों, जन प्रतिनिधियों और प्रशासन को इन परियोजनाओं की मुबारकबाद दी।
विधायक एवं मुख्य सचेतक ज्ञानचंद गुप्ता ने पंचकूला जिला को 705 करोड़ रुपये की विकास परियोजनाओं की सौगात देने और गरीब लोगों की आवास संबंधी पूरानी मांग को पूरा करने के लिये मुख्यमंत्री श्री मनोहरलाल का आभार व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पूर्व सरकार के कार्यकाल में पंचकूला जिला की विकास के मामले में अनदेखी की गई है लेकिन वर्तमान सरकार के पांच वर्ष के कार्यकाल में अकेले पंचकूला विधानसभा क्षेत्र में 2 हजार करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की राशि के विकास कार्यों को स्वीकृति मिली है। उन्होंने कहा कि इनमें से अधिकतर कार्य पूरे होने के नजदीक है और शेष का निर्माण कार्य युद्धस्तर पर चल रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री ने पंचकूला को आयुष विश्वविद्यालय के साथ-साथ नेशनल इंस्टीच्यूट आॅफ फैशन डिजाइनिंग जैसे दो विश्व विद्यालय दिये है, जिनसे क्षेत्र के लाखों युवाओं के कौशल में निखार आयेगा और लोगों को आयुष की बेहतर सेवाएं भी उपलब्ध होंगी। उन्होंने कहा कि केंद्र और राज्य सरकार के प्रयासों से पंचकूला से यमुनानगर तक फोर लेन की परियोजना को पूरा किया जा रहा है और इससे पूरे क्षेत्र की उन्नति होगी। इसके अलावा उन्होंने पंचकूला जिला में विभिन्न विभागों के माध्यम से किये जा रहे विकास कार्यों का भी विस्तार पूर्वक जिक्र किया।

वन विभाग हरियाणा द्वारा शिवालिक क्षेत्र की पहाड़ियों में हरियाली को बढ़ाने के लिये ड्रोन के माध्यम से विभिन्न प्रजातियों के वृक्षों के बीज डालने की शुरूआत की गई है। इसकी शुरूआत आज मोरनी क्षेत्र के मांधना गांव से की गई। यह ड्रोन एक समय में दो किलो बीज लेकर उडान भर सकता है और पहाड़ी व दुर्गंम क्षेत्रों में जहां मनुष्य द्वारा पौधारोपण आसान नहीं है वहां पर विभिन्न प्रजातियों के वृक्षों के बीज डालेंगे। आज से आरंभ किये गये इस नये प्रयोग के माध्यम से 18 सितंबर तक पूरे शिवालिक क्षेत्र में यह कार्य संपन्न किया जायेगा।
हरियाणा के प्रधान मुख्य वन संरक्षक अनिल हुडा और अतिरिक्त प्रधान मुख्य संरक्षक विनोद कुमार ने बताया कि यह नया प्रयोग प्रदेश की मुख्य सचिव श्रीमती केसनी आनंद अरोडा के प्रोत्साहन और मार्गदर्शन से किया गया हैं। पहाड़ी और जंगली क्षेत्र में विभिन्न प्रजातियों के वृक्षों के बीज डालने के लिये इस ड्रोन को आईआईटी कानपुर द्वारा तैयार किया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि पहाड़ों व जंगली क्षेत्र में मुश्किल रास्ते होने के कारण सामान्य विधि से पौधारोपण या बीजकरण मुश्किल होता है और ड्रोन बीजकरण आधारित प्रणाली काफी कारगर साबित होगी।
श्री विनोद कुमार ने बताया कि इस ड्रोन के माध्यम से नीम, जामुन, आंवला, बरगद, पिलखण और खैर इत्यादी प्रजातियों के वृक्षों के बीज ड्रोन से गिराये जा रहे है। उन्होंने बताया कि वन विभाग हरियाणा द्वारा वन सीमा, वन क्षेत्र और वानिकी संसाधनों की जानकारी व मूल्यांकन के लिये भी ड्रोन तकनीक का प्रयोग किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने ंकहा कि बीजकरण के क्षेत्र में इस नये प्रयोग से पौधारोपण ज्यादा होगा और शिवालिक क्षेत्र की हरियाली बढ़ेगी।
इस अवसर पर अतिरिक्त प्रधान मुख्य संरक्षक विनोद कुमार, मुख्य वन संरक्षक अतुल सिरसकर, वन मंडल अधिकारी पवन शर्मा, विशाल कौशिक, मुख्य प्रचार अधिकारी धर्मवीर, वन राजिक अधिकारी सुनील कुंडु व श्मशेर सहित विभाग के अन्य अधिकारी उपस्थित थे।

A One Day Workshop on “Plastic Tide Turner Challenge” in partnership with WWF-India & UN Environment was organised in University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, here today by Department of Community Education & Disability Studies, PU, Chandigarh in collaboration with State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), U.T. Chandigarh & the Legal Aid Society, UILS, PU.
The workshop was aimed on the cutting on our use of single-use disposable plastic also talked about the negative and disastrous effects of use of plastic in the long run.
The workshop was inaugurated by the tremendous speeches given by the Chief Guests Shri Debendra Dalai, Director, Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration; Shri Mahavir Singh, Additional District and Sessions Judge and Member Secretary, SLSA, Chandigarh; Dr. Dazy Zarabi, Chairperson, Department of Community Education and
Disability Studies, PU; and Shri Pramod Sharma, Founder Coordinator YUVSATTA.
It witnessed a great zeal of participation of nearly 200 students who were being mentored by Ms. Ambreen Khan, manager, WWF. The students were also made aware of the correct way of disposing the single-use plastic. Overall it was an enriching and fruitful experience for the students.
