*Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka councillors & Officials Appreciate Chandigarh’s Innovative Waste Processing Units during study tour*
A team of Commissioners and Engineers from Andhra Pradesh Committees and a delegation of Elected Representatives and officials from the City Municipal Council, Nanjangud, Karnataka, visited the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today on a study tour.
The visiting teams were warmly welcomed by city Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS and senior officers of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
The purpose of the study tours was to understand and replicate the best practices and innovative initiatives implemented by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in the field of solid and liquid waste management. The delegations visited and reviewed facilities related to waste segregation, composting units, solid waste management processing plants, and the Construction & Demolition (C&D) waste plant.
During the visit, the officials of MCC briefed the delegations about the integrated waste management system adopted by the local Corporation, which focuses on door-to-door segregation, scientific processing of wet and dry waste, production of compost, recycling of resources, and sustainable disposal of C&D waste.
The visiting teams appreciated the efforts made by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh towards building a cleaner and sustainable urban environment, and expressed interest in implementing similar models in their respective states and cities.
