Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla inaugurates animal carcass incinerator plant at Raipurkalan Gaushala
*Chandigarh, September 12:-* In a significant step towards enhancing the green cover and improving environmental conditions, city Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla spearheaded a massive plantation drive inside the boundary wall of the dumping ground at Dadumajra.
Accompanied by the Superintending Engineer (H&E) and dedicated horticulture staff of the Municipal Corporation, the initiative saw the plantation of 125 tree saplings including Sterculia alata and Sukhchain, along with 500 shrubs of Single Chandi, Excoecaria bicolor, Raat ki Rani, and Hamelia Patens.
The Mayor emphasized that the plantation of oxygen-generating species is part of a broader strategy to combat environmental challenges and improve air quality in the area. “Our aim is to transform Dadumajra by increasing greenery, reducing pollution, and addressing public concerns. Every step is being taken to curb foul odors and other civic issues, which will be resolved very soon,” she stated.
She further said that the Municipal Corporation remains committed to sustainable urban development and community well-being, with continued efforts to beautify the city and promote ecological balance.
