*MCC commits to empowering communities and developing sustainable practices*
*Chandigarh, January 19:-* With a strong focus on promoting clean and eco-friendly practices for the well-being of its citizens, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has organized a live demonstration to segregate floral waste from Sai Temple, Sector-29, here today by Self-Help Group (SHG) women.
As part of the Swachh Teerath Campaign, the MCC, through its flagship program, these groups skillfully transform the waste into fragrant incense cones and sticks. This initiative aims to ensure a cleaner and more environmentally friendly city. The MC expert team also briefed and encouraged citizens visiting the counter about the recycling of floral waste and the Visar Vahan Initiative.
Ms. Anindita Mitra, IAS, Municipal Commissioner expressed her enthusiasm and emphasized that the MCC is committed to empowering communities and fostering sustainable practices. By actively involving SHG women in the segregation and transformation process, the MCC not only promotes clean and eco-friendly practices but also provides sustainable livelihood opportunities for women. The initiative serves as a testament to the MCC’s dedication to responsible waste management and its commitment to creating a cleaner and greener environment.
She highlighted the importance of collaboration between various stakeholders and the unique opportunities it creates for sustainable livelihoods and the adoption of eco-friendly practices. The MCC’s efforts in recycling floral waste and promoting eco-friendly products not only contribute to environmental preservation but also generate employment opportunities, fostering a sustainable and inclusive community.
The MCC remains steadfast in its commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and the well-being of the community. The ongoing deep cleansing drive at worship places throughout the city, which includes activities such as sweeping, washing, repairing, litter picking, cleaning dustbins, and collecting floral waste, further demonstrates the MCC’s dedication to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces, and will continue until January 22, coinciding with the Pran Pratishtha Ceremony at Ram Janmabhoomi.
The MCC encourages active participation from the community in implementing various initiatives and establishing partnerships to create a harmonious and eco-friendly environment for all citizens.
