Chandigarh, June 11:- A meeting of House Tax Assessment Committee, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was held here today under the chairmanship of Sh. Charanjiv Singh and attended by other members of committee namely Sh. Ajay Dutta, Smt. Sunita Dhawan, Smt. Kamla Sharma, Sh. Sachin Lohtiya, Ms. Shipra Bansal, Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma, Senior Deputy Mayor was also present as special invitee, Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner and other concerned officers of Tax Branch, MCC.

During the meeting following current issues related to commercial as well as residential property tax were discussed:

·        The committee members discussed and decided to organize camps in the markets and industrial area for commercial property tax payers in collaboration with the concerned Associations as per their requirement & demand. Settlement of arrears, other issues related to current year tax and other services related to their commercial property tax including amendment and correction in the bills be provided during the camps to facilitate the tax payers.

·        The committee members discussed the mode of payment of property tax in detail and decided that the payment be accepted through only e-Sampark centres and the option through collection from bank be avoided in future so that the reconciliation of individual accounts be made more easier.

·        The corridor infront of the Property Tax branch in MC building be cleared from the renovation work material and seating arrangements for the visitors/tax payers be provided keeping in view the social distancing and other precautionary measures for the visitors as well as the office staff of tax branch.

·        The members asked the concerned officers of tax branch to prepare separate details of old year arrears and current demand bills to access the actual tax to be collected in the current year.

·        The committee members hailed the decision of Mayor and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh to extend the date of paying property tax upto 31st July keeping in view the COVID-19.

·        The committee members decided that next meeting will be called within 15 days to review the progress of issues discussed and implemented in the interest of tax payers.
